Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones put his career on the line for his Gold FM co-host Amanda Keller.

I’m so thrilled for them! This year, my absolute favorite breakfast radio duo on Gold FM Sydney, released their book, ‘Pump Up The Jam’! It’s a celebration of their incredible 20 years together on the air – I’ve been listening for years and they truly deserve all the success.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what I just read! Apparently, he’s finally talking about how far he went to get her on the show back in 2004! It’s insane – he really pulled out all the stops, and the details are just…everything! I’m completely obsessed with learning what he did!

Gold FM, then known as WSFM, was facing difficulties. Ratings were dropping, and Kayley Harris, a former co-host, had left.

He told news.com.au on Friday that he felt like he was about to be fired, explaining, “We were in last place – fifth in a five-horse race.”

Jonesy, having worked with Amanda, 63, at Triple J before, strongly recommended WSFM hire her as his new co-host, confidently predicting the show would become the most popular with her on the air.

Jonesy was so confident he urged them to give her anything she desired, even wagering his job on their success. He pointed out that management could terminate his three-year contract without payment if they didn’t reach the top spot within the year.

‘All I wanted to do was work a breakfast show with her and I knew it would work,’ he said.

Jonesy took a big chance, and it worked! Within nine months, he and his co-host became the most popular breakfast radio show in Sydney, launching a successful partnership that lasted for twenty years.

Amanda and Jonesy, a popular Sydney breakfast radio duo, recently responded to rumors that they might be replaced by a host from Melbourne, despite their years of success on the air.

After two decades of hosting the breakfast show, Jonesy & Amanda will move to Gold 101.7’s drive time slot in 2026. Christian O’Connell will then take over the morning show.

On their radio show, the hosts joked that they’d make sure their listeners joined them for the afternoon drive, even if they didn’t want to. They said they’d ‘drag’ them there, meaning they’d strongly encourage them to tune in.

‘You and I have some big news. We have re-signed here at Gold. I don’t want to say “but”, but it’s “and”—there are going to be some changes,’ Amanda said.

Brendan and I are heading to the late shift. We could have happily continued working the breakfast shift for a long time – we never minded the early hours.

We’ve been customers for twenty years, and we’re determined to keep doing business with you, even if it’s difficult. We’re going to make sure you adapt and improve along with us, even if you resist the changes.

For twenty years, we’ve started each day with you, and now we’re thrilled to be connecting with you later in the day. We’re really looking forward to it!

Amanda added that everything would be okay if everyone joined them for the drive and followed their instructions.

The news sparked a mixed reaction, with some people calling it a mistake, while others were thrilled at the prospect of hearing Jonesy & Amanda during their evening commute.

Someone commented on Instagram that listening to the hosts in the morning makes breakfast more enjoyable, and things won’t be the same without them.

‘This is terrible. Why do we need change? It’s working well now,’ another added.

‘This sounds more like a demotion,’ suggested a third.

Someone else shared their support, saying they’d tune in to listen anytime, day or night.

‘I will be following you pair wherever you go,’ another agreed.

One fan said they’ll really miss hearing from us in the mornings, but they’re happy we’ll still be on in the afternoons!
