Sydney Sweeney And Ben Foster Ate So Many Uncrustables On Their New Movie She Thought His Double Chin Was Fake

It’s pretty normal for actors to change their bodies for a role. When playing superheroes, they often bulk up to look the part. But sometimes, a role requires losing muscle, and Ben Foster reportedly achieved this by eating a diet of mostly bread and jam.

Ben Foster stars alongside Sydney Sweeney in the new movie Christy, a biopic about boxer Christy Martin. While Sweeney trained hard to get in boxing shape, Foster’s preparation was surprisingly simple: he gained weight to play Jim, Martin’s promoter and husband. Foster told The Guardian that he and Sweeney bonded over eating lots of Uncrustables on set, and he gained so much weight that Sweeney jokingly thought his double chin was fake. He went on to explain…

I remember it was probably the second week when Syd suddenly touched my chin. She commented that it looked like a really good prosthetic, but I quickly told her it wasn’t one – and I was relieved she didn’t realize it wasn’t!

Foster was pleased that Sydney Sweeney couldn’t distinguish his real weight gain from a convincing prosthetic, showing his efforts were working. He ate a lot of burritos and Uncrustables – those are essentially crustless jam sandwiches – and, surprisingly, it wasn’t a terrible diet.

Sydney Sweeney reportedly ate a lot of sandwiches, but she offset the extra calories with intense workouts. This helped her build muscle, unlike her co-star who gained weight. It was nice they could at least enjoy the food together.

Compared to the extreme diets some actors follow to prepare for roles, Sweeney and Foster seem to have had it relatively easy. It’s often really tough for actors to change their eating habits for a part. Thankfully, it doesn’t sound like either of them had to eat massive amounts of food like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, or restrict themselves to only protein. Though it does make you wonder, if you’re already eating Uncrustables so often, what would even be a treat meal?

Both Sydney Sweeney and Ben Foster gave strong performances in their roles, but the movie Christy didn’t do well at the box office, opening with one of the lowest totals in recent years. Surprisingly, despite the poor box office numbers, the film is considered a financial success because it was made on a very limited budget.
