Brawl Stars December 2025 Update: Gameplay Changes
Brawl Stars has fully launched its Hypercharge system for all Brawlers, bringing lasting changes to how the game is played.
- So, the game has totally skipped Power Level 12.
- Instead of that, they’re adding the new power, known as Buffies, that acts as buffs to your Starr Powers, Gadgets, and Hypercharge.
- For this update, you’ll get 18 Buffies, with more coming with separate Claw Machines.
- You can also look forward to discounted in-app purchases and Gem offers in the future.
- Additionally, both Mythic and Epic Gears will be removed, once all Brawlers who’ve those Gears get their Buffies.
- And, you can actually aim with some Gadgets now.

Buffies and Buffies Design
Brawl Stars is adding a new feature called Buffies to enhance your Brawlers! Buffies will improve Gadgets, Star Powers, and Hypercharge. Each Brawler will get three Buffies: one for their Star Power, one for their Gadget, and one for their Hypercharge. You’ll get these Buffies by playing the new Claw Machine, and they’ll be called Gadget Buffies, Star Buffies, and Hyper Buffies.
Inside the game, these will appear as adorable keychains – you’ll get a quick glimpse of them during matches, and they’ll remain visible on the main menu. The next update will introduce ‘Buffies’ for 6 Brawlers, and this will be the standard moving forward. Creating Buffies takes more work than things like Hypercharge, so some updates might feature fewer than 6.

Let’s use the updated Spike as an example to show how things work. His first Gadget lets you shoot two sets of three needles, which damage and slow down opponents. But, if you use it with his Buffie, you can briefly freeze an enemy if all the needles connect. This applies to his other Gadgets, Star Powers, and Hypercharge as well.
The Claw Machine
I’m excited about this new feature! The Claw Machine lets you win Buffies, and each attempt costs 1000 Coins and 2000 Power Points. Each machine has Buffies from a limited selection of Brawlers. Soon, you’ll also be able to buy them directly with Gems or through in-app purchases.

The team is trying a new strategy: they’re starting by testing with a simpler in-game currency, and will add more premium options later – a different approach than what they did with Hypercharges. This means things could evolve, and they plan to add more collectible items (‘Buffies’) to various virtual machines (‘Claw Machines’) to maintain a consistent level of rewards, no matter how many Buffies are available.
There are 18 Buffies available, with 6 in each Claw Machine. You’ll unlock this feature when you reach 1,000 trophies, and your first Buffie is free! Once you collect all 18 Buffies, you can spend 10,000 Bling per pull to get different Skins for them from the Claw Machine.
Reworking older Brawlers, enhancing competitive depth, and more
The team clarified that this new power system enhances the current one instead of completely overhauling it. They aim to make competitive gameplay more strategic and nuanced without overwhelming new players, allowing casual players to experience fresh content without a steep learning curve.
As a long-time Supercell fan, I’m really excited to hear they’re planning to update some of the older Brawlers! With so many to choose from now – almost 100! – it makes sense to go back and give those original characters some love and polish, but without changing who they are. What I’m most thrilled about is that they want to emphasize skill and strategy over just pure power. Not every update will make a Brawler super strong right away, but they’re aiming for improvements that really let players shine.

In this update, we’re removing Epic and Mythic Gears from Brawlers who currently have them, but you’ll get a full refund. I’m especially excited about the changes to Gadgets! Some Gadgets will now have an aimable Joystick, allowing for more skillful play, though you can still simply tap to activate them if you prefer the current way.
Additional Changes
As a long-time fan, I’m really excited about this update! It sounds like they’re giving the whole economy a big boost. They’re making it easier for new players to get started with more resources early on, and they’re also rewarding us veterans with better prizes in things like the Brawl Pass and Mega Quests. It’s awesome to see them thinking about everyone!

That’s great, but the really interesting news is the new Starr Drop called Chaos Drop. It’s expected to be worth four times more than usual! Plus, you’ll get all the same rewards as a regular Starr Drop, and it has the added benefit of being splittable up to eight ways – just like Sushi.
| Items | Drop Rate |
|---|---|
| Random Hypercharge | 24.7% |
| Mythic Brawler | 24.7% |
| Legendary Brawler | 9.9% |
| Ultra Brawler | 0.4% |
| Epic Skins | 9.90% |
| Mythic Skins | 3.9% |
| Legendary Skins | 1.4% |
| Buffie | 24.7% |
The rarity you get with these drops is what determines the multiplier, meaning you could potentially receive eight Legendary or eight Ultra items – Ultra being a brand new rarity only found in Chaos Drops. You can find Chaos Drops in the new Brawl Pass, through daily wins, and sometimes during special events.
