December 30 Will Be A Great Day For Blade Fans

It’s a new day for the Blade character, but the future of the franchise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still unclear. There’s been a lot of debate and confusion, especially after Marvel announced a reboot starring Mahershala Ali – a surprising move – and then brought back Wesley Snipes, the original Blade, for a cameo in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie in 2024.

Good news for fans of Wesley Snipes as Blade! The original movie and its sequel will be available on Prime Video starting December 30, 2025, giving fans a great way to end the year. According to ComicBook.com, this is exciting news for those who loved Snipes’ take on the character from the early 2000s.

This is great news for fans who want to revisit those classic films. They were previously only available on Hulu, but now Prime Video subscribers can enjoy them too, and remember how incredible Wesley Snipes was at his best.

‘There’s Only Ever Gonna Be One Blade’

Fans are still upset about the situation with Ali and his role as Blade. Marvel hasn’t mentioned the Blade project in months, and they’ve also given the voiceover role for Blade Knight in the upcoming Marvel Zombies to Todd Williams instead of Ali. Reports suggest there’s been no contact between Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios, and Ali, even though Ali has publicly stated his phone number hasn’t changed – meaning Marvel could easily reach out if they wanted to.

I’ve told Marvel I’m eager to play Blade, and I’m prepared to start whenever they are. Right now, I’m focused on doing my best work and taking things one day at a time. I’m hopeful the project will move forward, but I’m not sure what Marvel’s current plans are.

Ali most recently hinted at playing Blade in a short scene after the credits of the movie Eternals. In that scene, his character challenges Dane White, suggesting he needs to be ready before wielding the Ebony Blade, which would transform him into the Black Knight. Unfortunately, like many similar setups by Marvel, that story hasn’t gone anywhere, and there’s been no further news about Ali taking on the role of Blade.

Wesley Snipes is likely to return as Blade in upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. After a long and public feud with Ryan Reynolds following the filming of Blade: Trinity, the two have reconciled while working on Deadpool & Wolverine, effectively ending any plans for a new Blade film starring Ali. Instead, the first two Blade movies, which are highly regarded, are being revisited to kick off the new year.
