A recent report suggests audiences might have gotten a hint of the big bad villain’s plan for the upcoming Spider-Man 4. The movie, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, is set to release next summer and will kick off a new story arc for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, complete with a fresh villain. While the main villain hasn’t been revealed yet, several of Spider-Man’s classic enemies—including Scorpion, Punisher, and Tombstone—are confirmed to appear in the film.
I’m so excited for the next Spider-Man movie! While we don’t know exactly who the main villain will be yet, there have been some hints dropped during filming – especially from the set in the UK – that suggest we might see Spider-Man facing off against some of his classic foes on the big screen. It’s really getting me hyped!
According to insider Daniel Richtman, filming for the new Spider-Man movie included a scene where Tom Holland’s Spider-Man teams up with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. They were working together to stop a group of people being controlled against their will, who were attempting to free Michael Mando’s character, the Scorpion, from prison. This could hint at the main villain’s larger scheme in the film.
Adding to recent news, a report surfaced detailing a large-scale fight scene in a prison, with Spider-Man and ninjas involved. It’s currently unknown if this scene relates to another sequence filmed near London over the last few weeks, but the movie crew has been shooting at a jail just outside the city.
According to Richtman’s latest information, the upcoming villain in Brand New Day seems to be planning a dangerous move: releasing all of Spider-Man’s captured enemies to create a team of supervillains, similar to an evil version of the Avengers.
Filming for the upcoming Marvel movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is still underway in the UK and expected to finish around mid-December. Tom Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man, portraying a fresh start for the hero as New York’s secret protector. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi, is taking over as director from Jon Watts. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
Who Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Mind-Controlling Villain?

I’m so excited about the next Spider-Man story, Brand New Day! We haven’t known much about the villain, but it looks like they have the power to control people’s minds, which is a really interesting twist!
There were earlier hints that a new villain might be able to control Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. Now, the idea of this villain having mind-control abilities is being discussed again.
Many Marvel villains can control minds, but one in particular seems likely to be the main antagonist in the next Spider-Man movie.
Rumors have been swirling for months about a villain named Mr. Negative appearing in a major Marvel Cinematic Universe movie planned for 2026. Originally featured in the popular Spider-Man video games, this New York-based character has the power to control people’s minds using a special ability called ‘corruption,’ allowing him to quickly build a large group of followers to carry out his plans.

This fits with earlier reports of Spider-Man battling ninja-like figures during the prison escape. Mr. Negative frequently incorporates imagery inspired by East Asian cultures, which naturally creates a ninja-like atmosphere.
It’s possible that Mr. Negative is the big bad guy in the new movie, and he’s following the same plan he had in the first Spider-Man game on PlayStation.
Scorpion’s prison break might be a piece of a larger, more sinister scheme. It’s possible this powerful villain is also planning to free other imprisoned enemies. The recent rumors about multiple villains appearing in the new movie suggest this could be how they’re brought together, with Mr. Negative potentially gathering allies to defeat Spider-Man.
