Snyderverse Fans Finally Get Their Ben Affleck Batman Return, With A Catch

Despite all the excitement around Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman and the new direction for the DC Universe, many fans still strongly prefer Ben Affleck’s version of the character. Luckily for devoted fans of the previous films (often called the Snyderverse), there’s still new merchandise being released, like a recently announced collectible figure from Hot Toys.

The company that makes collectible figurines is releasing a new Batman action figure modeled after Ben Affleck’s portrayal of the character. This is an updated version of a figure first released in 2016.

This new 1/6 scale figure captures the iconic look from the final battle in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, where Batman prepares to fight Superman. It includes details fans have always wanted to see, like a die-cast armored head with glowing white eyes. The figure also features interchangeable faceplates to change Batman’s expression and includes accessories like a grapple gun.

The special edition includes a detailed replica of the Kryptonite spear from the Batman vs. Superman movie, and it even lights up! It also comes with a broken spearhead and extra armor pieces that look battle-damaged from fighting Superman.

Hot Toys released a Batman figure based on this famous image back in 2016. But this new version, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Armored Batman (2.0), isn’t just a simple update. According to a post on Hot Toys’ Instagram, it’s a completely redesigned figure with much more detail and accuracy to the movie version.

It’s interesting that this item was announced so soon after Zack Snyder shared a picture of Batman’s armored suit from his movie on Instagram. That post initially led some to believe the DC Extended Universe might be revived. However, it’s more probable that Snyder simply got an early look at this new collectible from Hot Toys and wanted to generate excitement for its release.

Hot Toys Recently Announced Another DCEU-Inspired Batman Figure

This week, Hot Toys revealed their second Batman figure based on the DC Extended Universe: the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Armored Batman (2.0). Just two days before, they shared a preview on Instagram of another new collectible, though with a distinctive twist.

This collectible Batman figure features Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne in the blue and gray suit, a classic look from the comics that Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman film updated to all black. The figure’s design is based on a scene in Justice League where The Flash and an alternate version of himself visit Batman in the Batcave, seeking his help against Zod. It specifically recreates a shot of Batman wearing this blue and gray suit within the Batcave.

The new Batman figure from Hot Toys, scheduled for release later this year, has faced some criticism from fans who aren’t happy with the way the figure’s mouth is sculpted. However, the collectible includes alternate faceplates to change Batman’s expression, plus swappable hands, accessories, and a flexible cape and limbs, allowing fans to customize the figure’s look to their liking.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Armored Batman (2.0) goes on sale in late 2025.
