Shrek 5 Adds Marcello Hernández & Skyler Gisondo

The popular Shrek series began over 20 years ago with the original film in 2001, becoming one of the highest-grossing animated movies ever made. A fifth Shrek film is in the works, and it will be released after the longest gap since 2010’s Shrek Forever After.

Good news for Shrek fans! After being delayed, Shrek 5 is moving forward with updates. The original voice actors will return, and a new character, Felicia – Shrek and Fiona’s teenage daughter – will be introduced. According to reports, Marcello Hernández from Saturday Night Live and Skyler Gisondo, known for Superman, are joining the cast as Shrek and Fiona’s sons, Fergus and Farkle.

Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz are all returning to reprise their beloved roles as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona.

The new Shrek movie, a sequel from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation, has had its release date pushed back. It was initially planned for December 23, 2026, but will now arrive in theaters on June 30, 2027. This is the second time the film’s release has been adjusted; it was first scheduled for July 1, 2026.

Good news for animation lovers: Minions 3 will now be released in July, taking the original date planned for Shrek 5. As a result, Shrek 5 has been moved to a new date – April 16, 2027 – that was previously held for another Illumination film.
