Peter Kay is likened to an ‘AI-generated combination of Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’ in bizarrely distorted TV snap – as comic announces plans to donate all tour proceeds to cancer charities

Some Instagram users claim to see Ant and Dec hidden within a strangely distorted photo of Peter Kay.

The famously private comedian, age 52, is performing again for the first time in years. He’s announced a farewell tour of arenas throughout the UK and Ireland, and all the money raised will go to support 12 different cancer charities in Britain.

Kay announced new dates for his UK tour during an appearance on The One Show Wednesday night. The first additional show will be at London’s O2 Arena in December.

A heavily distorted photo of the comedian from his appearance on the BBC chat show confused some Instagram users, with a few joking that it accidentally made him look like a mix of TV hosts Ant and Dec.

One social media user shared a picture and commented that while they’re a fan of Peter Kay, the photo their dad sent them looks like an AI-created mix of Ant and Dec.

Evidently in agreement, a second added: ‘It’s like Ant & Dec.’

Fortunately, almost everyone recognized the photo as fake – it was clearly distorted and didn’t look anything like the comedian.

Generous Kay announced he’ll be giving all the money earned from his last performances to various charities across the UK.

He shared that his current project will wrap up next year and these upcoming shows will be his last. Importantly, all the money raised from them will be donated to cancer charities. He told this to The One Show’s Lauren Laverne, who recently revealed her own cancer diagnosis, and Vernon Kay.

Performing for people across the country has been the highlight of my career. I’m incredibly grateful for all the support I’ve received and want to show my appreciation by giving back to the community.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always thrilled to see people use their platforms for good! Kay’s incredible generosity will be supporting some truly vital organizations. Specifically, funds are going to Children With Cancer UK, the Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Cancer UK, Blood Cancer UK, and Bowel Cancer UK – all fantastic charities making a real difference in the lives of those affected by these diseases.

A portion of the proceeds from his last performances will be donated to several charities, including Prostate Cancer UK, DKMS UK, Ovarian Cancer Action, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Anthony Nolan, The Brain Tumour Charity, and Breast Cancer UK.

He acknowledged that the list likely includes people everyone knows, and expressed hope for public support, explaining that’s why he was present.

It’s not about whether you like me personally; it’s about helping these important charities, and I really hope you’ll join us.

‘Tickets go on sale this Sunday at 10 o’clock. It’s a good Christmas present too’, he added.

Peter is planning a major tour with over 20 shows in arenas across the UK and Ireland, including cities like Newcastle, Nottingham, Glasgow, Dublin, Birmingham, and London.

Rachel Calderon, a fundraising leader at Blood Cancer UK, called the news a significant achievement.

She said that people affected by any type of blood cancer – including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma – are truly happy and thankful.

Peter has earned the sincere thanks of The Brain Tumour Charity for his incredible support, according to CEO Dr. Michele Afif.

We’re incredibly grateful to Peter for including The Brain Tumour Charity as a beneficiary of his 2026 tour. This support will be vital in helping us make a real difference for those we support. Thank you, Peter, from everyone here.

Kay has supported cancer charities before. In 2023, he announced that proceeds from his first show at the Apollo in Manchester would be donated to charity.

The comedian honored his dedicated fan, Laura Nuttall, after her heartbreaking death at age 23 following a long fight with cancer.

In 2018, a devoted fan received a diagnosis of Glioblastoma Multiforme, a type of brain cancer that cannot be cured, after a regular eye exam.

Even after receiving a terminal diagnosis with only a year to live, she amazingly accomplished everything on her bucket list. This included graduating, presenting the weather on BBC television, and raising money for brain cancer research.

In 2021, the comic emerged from retirement to host two live Q&A sessions in honour of Laura.

The incredibly popular sessions generated enough money for Laura to get specialized medical care in Germany, as that treatment wasn’t accessible in the UK.

Laura received a diagnosis of eight brain tumors. Surgeons removed the largest one during an operation, and she then received both radiation and chemotherapy as part of her treatment.
