Linda Hamilton is famous for playing a strong, protective mother figure, especially in films about saving the world. Now, she’s taking on a different kind of role in the world of Stranger Things – playing a scientist who carries a gun.

Linda Hamilton, famous for her role as Sarah Connor in the Terminator movies, appears as Dr. Kay, a military scientist who is trying to find Eleven, the character played by Millie Bobby Brown.

The 69-year-old actress will appear in the fifth and final season of the show. She’ll be featured in the first four episodes, which Netflix released on November 26th.

In the first episode, titled “The Crawl,” viewers immediately meet Kay, a practical and direct character who is shown examining a deceased creature from the Upside Down.

Hamilton recently explained to Netflix Tudum that her character has a hidden motive that isn’t revealed until later in the season.

That’s everything I can share on the matter. It was a lot of fun working with her, and I was given some really interesting things to do. I appreciated the variety in my work.

The actress has long been a big fan of the science fiction series, having publicly shared her enthusiasm shortly after it first appeared on Netflix in 2016.

She told Variety that a part of her would actually prefer to watch the experience unfold rather than participate in it, simply because being involved means she won’t be able to see it as an audience member.

I never watch my own work. I can’t help but be overly critical of it, and I can’t just enjoy it like a regular viewer. Honestly, this show is a real treat to watch.

When we read through the script, I pay close attention to everything. Since I won’t be able to see the final product on screen, these readings are my chance to really visualize how it will all come together.

Before the release of season five, the show’s creator, Matt Duffer, described the character Hamilton as a powerful and formidable agent.

He described her as incredibly smart and a bit scary. While she’s a scientist, she’s also capable of defending herself, even with a firearm, if the situation demands it.

News of the actor Hamilton joining the production was revealed in June 2023, but it wasn’t until over a year later that photos of them filming surfaced. Since then, details about the character they play have been kept secret.

‘I couldn’t wait to tell people. I just couldn’t wait,’ she said of the role.

In February 2024, she told Us Weekly she loved the show and enjoyed watching every season.

The actress revealed that the show’s creators, the Duffer brothers, had discussed her character with her during a video call. However, they intentionally left out major plot points for the final season to prevent spoilers from getting out.

You know, one of the biggest challenges I’ve found in pursuing a creative vision is learning to keep the details close to the vest. It requires real self-control to not share everything, but it’s absolutely necessary. Protecting your ideas means keeping them under wraps until you’re ready to reveal them – you don’t want to give anyone a chance to copy or interfere before you’re ready!

The actress confirmed she still doesn’t watch any movies or TV shows she’s in – it’s something she’s always done.

She explained that when you’re deeply involved in a project, you become so immersed that you lose perspective. That’s why, she said, she stops watching anything she’s worked on once it’s finished – it changes how she experiences it.

Seeing myself on screen would just be too strange and disconnect me from the experience, so I’m not planning to watch the new season.
