Macaulay Culkin reveals his young children have ‘no idea’ he’s Kevin in Home Alone

Macaulay Culkin recently shared that his kids don’t realize he’s the famous Kevin McCallister from the movie Home Alone.

It’s been 35 years since the now 45-year-old actor first played the role of the eight-year-old boy who defended his home against burglars in the 1990 film Home Alone.

To mark the special anniversary of the beloved Christmas movie, the former child star attended a showing at the Long Beach Terrace Theater in California on Saturday.

At the event, Macaulay Culkin shared that he frequently watches the movie with his sons, Dakota, age four, and Carson, age three, whom he shares with his partner Brenda Song, who is 37.

However according to PEOPLE, he said: ‘They have no idea that I’m Kevin.’

Macaulay explained that his children are just three and four years old, and he wants to maintain that sense of wonder and innocence for as long as he can.

One evening, four-year-old Carson asked his dad about their family. Macaulay showed him a picture of himself with his seven siblings.

Carson was quick to pick out his dad in the photo and said: ‘That kid looks like Kevin.’

Alex D. Linz appeared in ‘Home Alone 3,’ directed by Raja Gosnell, with Scarlett Johansson. However, the next three ‘Home Alone’ movies were released directly on ABC and Disney+ instead of in theaters.

Macaulay has come up with an idea for how the beloved holiday movie could be continued.

Macaulay shared that he’s either widowed or divorced and is currently raising a child. He admitted he’s been working so hard that he hasn’t been giving his child enough attention, which is causing some friction and leading to arguments.

He’s refusing to let me reconnect with him, and it feels like he’s deliberately creating obstacles. Our situation feels like the house represents his heart, and I’m trying to find a way back in.

That’s the best short explanation I can give right now. I don’t entirely disagree with the idea – it seems like the right approach.

In real life, the Golden Globe nominee has two sons – Dakota and Carson – with fiancée Brenda.

On November 1, Macaulay did reprise his role as Kevin.

In the Home Instead holiday commercial, he played a son worried about his mother, Kate, who was receiving senior care at home.

The original director of Home Alone, Chris Columbus, isn’t convinced another sequel will happen.

The 67-year-old director told ET in August that while ‘Home Alone’ isn’t currently experiencing the same cultural impact, there was a unique magic to its original release that can’t be recreated.

Trying to recreate something from 35 years ago is a bad idea, in my opinion. It’s best to just leave the past as it is.

By age 12, Macaulay Culkin had earned an estimated $15 to $17 million from films like Home Alone, Uncle Buck, and My Girl – enough money that he didn’t need to work for the rest of his life.

Comedian Macaulay will be performing at the Bass Concert Hall in Austin, Texas this Saturday as part of his 14-city nostalgia tour.

Macaulay and Brenda will be lending their voices to the characters Cattrick and Kitty Lynxley, a pair of lynx siblings, in the upcoming animated movie Zootopia 2. The film, directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, finally comes out this Friday.

The ensemble voiceover cast also includes Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Shakira and Idris Elba.

The film also stars Alan Tudyk, Bonnie Hunt, Ke Huy Quan, Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Patrick Warburton, Quinta Brunson, and Danny Trejo.
