Investigators have reportedly presented evidence to a grand jury regarding the death of Celeste Rivas-Hernandez, the teenager found deceased in a Tesla owned by the singer D4vd.
According to a source, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has begun presenting evidence to an investigative grand jury, the Los Angeles Times reports.
According to a source, the group met for several days around mid-November. It’s currently unclear if prosecutors have completed their presentation of evidence, the publication reports.
The Times reports that a grand jury could be formed to request testimony from a witness and gather evidence like videos. While these juries can suggest criminal charges, they don’t have the power to formally accuse anyone of a crime.
The Times also acquired a court document with a ‘GJ number,’ which suggests a grand jury is being assembled.
The court petition is the document Detective Joshua Byers of the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division used to successfully request a judge block the public release of Hernandez’s autopsy results and other details surrounding her death.

According to documents obtained by The Times, Byers was the first to publicly label the investigation into Hernandez’s death as a murder investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department had previously avoided classifying Hernandez’s death as a homicide, citing the ongoing investigation by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
According to a law enforcement official, Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman has called multiple witnesses to testify before the grand jury.
The district attorney’s office stated to the LA Times that they are unable to share details about what happens with grand juries.
An LAPD representative directed the LA Times to a previously released statement, which didn’t mention anything about a grand jury being formed.
The Daily Mail contacted D4vd’s representatives, his lawyer Blair Berk, the LAPD, and the LA County District Attorney’s office for a statement, but has not received a response from anyone involved.
The body of Rivas, who had been missing since running away from her home in Lake Elsinore in April 2024, was found on September 8th. She was discovered inside a Tesla owned by musician D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke. Tragically, the discovery was made just one day after what would have been Rivas’s 15th birthday.
Following the initial investigation, detectives searched the Hollywood Hills rental home—valued at $4.1 million—where Burke was living and collected several pieces of evidence. They haven’t shared any specifics about what they found.
According to law enforcement sources who spoke to TMZ, the remains of Rivas were reportedly frozen, dismembered, and found in pieces inside a Tesla. The car had been held in an impound lot for over two days, and some of the recovered body parts were still partially frozen.
The news source also noted a freezer in Burke’s house was big enough to hold a body, and suggested that Rivas’s remains could have been hidden inside it.
However, Steve Fischer, a private investigator working for the singer’s landlord, recently stated to the Daily Mail that he couldn’t find any proof to back up that story.
Fischer noted the freezer still contained its shelves and a variety of food and drinks that had been stored there for a long time.
Okay, so I had to, I just had to, do a proper search, you know? I got my hands on some of that Luminol and BlueStar stuff – the real deal detectives use! – and I went over every inch of the house, inside and out, looking for anything… any sign of blood. I was so hoping to find something, anything to prove my theories, but honestly? It came up completely empty. Not a single positive result. It was…disappointing, but I’m not giving up!
Fischer stated he found no signs of a violent crime at the rental property. However, he had previously mentioned discovering unusual items that could potentially be used to hide a body.
LAPD Captain Scot Williams, who leads the Robbery-Homicide Division, later said that TMZ’s report was inaccurate.
According to Williams, reports that Celeste’s body was frozen or decapitated are false. He explained to PEOPLE that her body had been in the car for weeks, making the idea of it being frozen illogical.
Even if she had been completely frozen when she was placed in the car—and there’s no proof that happened—five or more weeks in a hot car trunk during the summer wouldn’t have left her body partially frozen when it was found on September 8th.
With recent rumors circulating about Rivas’s death, the LAPD has secured a court order to prevent the LA County Medical Examiner from sharing any information from her autopsy. The case has also been taken down from the Medical Examiner’s website.

This hold prevents the release of any information about the case, such as the cause and manner of death, and the full Medical Examiner’s report, until it’s officially removed.
Dr. Odey Ukpo, the Chief Medical Examiner, publicly disagreed with the order in a written statement.
According to Ukpo, the Department aims to be completely open with the public by sharing details about their cases, hoping this information will help people make choices that protect lives.
Security holds aren’t commonly used in other areas, and there’s no evidence they actually help the legal process. We want to be open and honest with the community, but current legal restrictions related to this case prevent us from sharing information while the court order is active.
Okay, so the Medical Examiner’s Office finally said something, but it’s SO frustrating! They basically just said they get why everyone is obsessed with this – like, duh! – and they’ll share details as soon as the judge says it’s okay. It’s like they’re teasing us! I just need to know everything, and this waiting is killing me! I’m constantly checking for updates, hoping they’ll just release the info already. It feels like they’re deliberately dragging their feet!
LAPD Captain Mike Bland stated in response to the news that the investigation is still active. He explained the court order is intended to allow the police to review information before it’s released to the public.
For several months, the Los Angeles Police Department hasn’t revealed the singer’s name – or the name of any other potential suspect – in this case. They’ve indicated this is because they’re still trying to determine if a crime occurred, other than someone hiding a body.
Authorities are still waiting on an official cause of death from the medical examiner.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, authorities are looking at Burke as a possible suspect, though he hasn’t been officially named as one. Reports also indicate he hasn’t been cooperating with the police from the beginning.
The singer and his lawyer, Blair Berk, haven’t made any public comments regarding Rivas’s death.

According to a police source, detectives haven’t yet spoken with 20-year-old Burke. It’s still unclear what crimes he and anyone who may have helped him are suspected of.
Currently, no one has been arrested and no charges have been filed, according to reports from earlier this week.
Police are investigating whether the woman’s death was a homicide or due to other causes. They haven’t yet determined when she died.
‘Springtime is the closest we’ve come to determining the time of her death. Not before then.’
TMZ reports that detectives are looking into the possibility that multiple people were involved in the alleged cutting up and hiding of Rivas’s body.
Investigators are examining a nighttime trip Burke took to a secluded part of Santa Barbara County in spring 2025, where he allegedly remained for several hours.
Police haven’t found any official connection between Rivas and Burke, but investigators are focusing on whether they knew each other. Several photos claiming to show the two together have recently appeared online and are part of the ongoing investigation.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this case closely, and the details are truly disturbing. From what I understand, those close to the young girl say she and Fischer connected online when she was just 11 or 12, and their relationship quickly became secret. Sadly, friends hadn’t heard from her since late June or early July. However, Fischer insists he has proof she was still alive as recently as January 2nd of last year, which adds another layer of complexity to this heartbreaking situation.
Fischer has been carefully reviewing surveillance videos to understand the Tesla’s last known path and figure out when Rivas likely died.
Okay, so I’ve been following this so closely, and he just told the Daily Mail that the video footage is HUGE! It clearly shows the car – it was a mess, honestly, all dented and covered in mud – and he says it hadn’t been moved since July 29th. But the best part? You can see the driver’s face! He knows who it is, apparently, but he’s being super mysterious and won’t tell us yet. It’s killing me!
The vehicle was parked at the corner of Doheny Place and Bluebird Avenue and was towed away in early September.
According to Fischer, Burke was in Los Angeles when the car was relocated. He left later that day to begin his Withered World Tour.
He explained that the video, along with what investigators found at the home, suggests the singer relied on a small, close group of people he trusted.
According to Fischer, a small group of two to four people seemed to be living with David and were very close to him.
As a long-time follower of this case, I’ve always suspected more than one person was driving or had access to the Tesla, and the evidence seems to be pointing that way now. It’s becoming clearer that it wasn’t just a single individual involved.
Rivas ran away from home several times in the months before her April 2024 disappearance.
Sources claimed she had a troubled home life and had started skipping school.
According to her mother, the young woman was dating an older man named David. Her brother later identified him as Burke, stating that they last saw her when he drove her to a movie, but she never came home.
The family has not issued any public statements since.
Burke’s current whereabouts are not known.
