Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Apparently, Garrick Merrifield – yes, the Garrick from Seeking Sister Wife – reportedly threatened to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement – ICE – on his wife, Lorrana! Can you even imagine?! This was just before he was arrested earlier this week on Monday. I’ve been following their story so closely, and this is just… shocking. I read about it on TMZ, and I’m still reeling!
The reality TV star, famous for being on a TLC show, was arrested in Chaffee County, Colorado.
Garrick has been accused of interfering with telephone service and has been released on bail.
According to a legal document obtained by TMZ on Wednesday, Garrick allegedly threatened to report his wife, Lorrana (who is from Brazil), to Immigration and Customs Enforcement during a fight.
As a lifestyle expert, I often see how controlling behaviors can escalate in relationships. In this case, court documents revealed that during a fight, Lorrana’s husband allegedly took her phone and wouldn’t give it back, preventing her from contacting her family. It’s a really concerning dynamic, as being able to reach out for support is so important, especially when things get tough.
According to reports, when she said she planned to contact the police, Garrick refused to return her phone and threatened to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The Daily Mail has reached to Garrick for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Even though Lorrana is in the U.S. with a valid visa, she was frightened by the supposed threat because she wasn’t familiar with all the local laws.
She explained to police that she had looked into ways to reach them, and she believes Garrick discovered she did so.
Lorrana believes this to be so because she claimed that he deactivated Wi-Fi on her devices.
Despite his wife’s wishes, Garrick was arrested on November 24th.
According to reports, the arrest happened in Chaffee County, Colorado. A jail spokesperson confirmed to TMZ on Tuesday that Garrick has been released on bond.
The Daily Mail contacted Garrick and Warner Bros Discovery, TLC’s parent company, but did not receive any additional information.
Garrick practices polygamy and is currently in a relationship with his former wife, Danielle. He is legally married to Lorrana, who is from Brazil, and they recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
Garrick and Danielle aren’t legally married anymore. They divorced so Garrick could marry other women, which suited their relationship style.
Danielle explained on the show that the situation was particularly emotional for her, saying, ‘Because Garrick and I have faced so many challenges in our marriage and even thought about getting divorced, it really affects me deeply.’
Garrick and Danielle are parents to three children: teenage sons Geremiah and Solomon, and their youngest, two-year-old daughter Leia.
Lorrana and her partners, Garrick and Danielle, had a baby daughter named Sarah Mae Merrifield on July 3rd, according to People magazine.
Lorrana shared with the publication how happy she is to watch Sarah grow up with her brothers and sisters, enjoying strong family connections and lots of love.
I was so touched when Lorrana opened up about her pregnancy. She shared that being a first-time mom-to-be brought on a whole whirlwind of emotions – a really relatable feeling, honestly! It was lovely to hear her be so open about it.
She described her newborn as a very happy baby, always greeting everyone with a big, cheerful smile.
Garrick announced the arrival of his baby, Sarah, describing her as surprisingly loud. He joked that she has strong lungs and might grow up to be an opera singer.
Garrick said that he was excited about his younger children interacting with one another.
He expressed his enthusiasm for seeing the character develop and for the dynamic between her and Leia, hoping to see them portrayed as sisters growing up together.
Garrick expressed his gratitude for Sarah being there, saying it was wonderful that Leia would get to know her while growing up.
