Kayla Itsines has dropped a surprising confession about her hugely successful fitness app.
In 2015, at age 34, the entrepreneur launched Sweat with her current business partner, Tobi Pearce, who was previously her fiancé.
And it seems some of the exercises she designed for the popular app may even be too tough for her.
The revelation came when Kayla was answering a live fan Q&A on the Star Sessions podcast.
‘Do you still do the guides yourself?’ one fan asked.
Kayla smiled and replied: ‘Yes.’

She acknowledged that some of the harder exercises might have been more challenging than she initially thought.
She asked if I’d seen her recently, explaining she’d completed the leg challenge she created. She admitted she’d thought it would be easy, since she designed it herself.
‘I was like: “Who is Kayla? I hate her”,’ she jokingly added.
However, Kayla added that she has always trained with intense dedication.
‘I’ve trained like that since I was at school,’ she said.
When Tobi and I created the guides, we decided to include absolutely everything we know, because that’s the way we teach our clients and how I personally learn and improve.
This news follows the recent publication of Kayla’s impressive net worth on the Australian Financial Review Young Rich List.
She ranked 40th on Australia’s richest people list, thanks to a fitness business now valued at an incredible $176 million.

Starting the new financial year strong, she increased her net worth by $5 million, solidifying her position as one of Australia’s richest young fitness influencers.
As a lifestyle observer, I’ve been watching the fitness space closely, and it’s clear that the co-founder of Sweat has really pulled ahead. While Tammy Hembrow is still a major player – she has a huge following and always seems to be in the news – the Sweat app’s founder is currently leading the pack.
I was surprised to see Tammy Fit’s founder at number 90 on the list, with a net worth of $58 million. It’s still an incredible amount, but less than half of what people estimate Kayla’s worth to be!
Fitness influencer and podcast host Steph Claire Smith is the driving force behind two successful businesses, and her net worth is an impressive $42 million, landing her at number 100 on the list.
Kayla first shot to fame more than a decade ago with her Bikini Body Guide e-book.
In 2024, the personal trainer made the Australian Financial Review Young Rich List, ranking at number 34 – only a few places behind actress Margot Robbie.
She made headlines in 2023 when she bought back her Sweat empire from US fitness giant iFIT.
Kayla started her business journey in her parents’ backyard in Adelaide. Now, she makes money in a few different ways: through a dog training app called Dogit, and by working with commercial real estate.

Kayla and Tobi created the Sweat fitness app in 2015 and later sold it to the American company iFIT for $400 million in 2021. This sale happened after a surge in people exercising at home due to gym closures during the Covid-19 pandemic.
After acquiring the Sweat brand, iFIT wasn’t able to continue its success and experienced an $80 million loss in its first year of ownership.
After gyms reopened, fewer people kept their $20 monthly subscriptions, and the company continued to lose money until Kayla and Tobi took back control in November 2023.
Kayla went back to leading the training team, and Tobi started concentrating on the company’s future growth and stability.
