Sophie Delezio has opened up about her moving birth story.
Delezio welcomed her first child, Frankie, with her husband Joseph Salerno in September.
The 24-year-old shared how difficult experiences from her childhood – including surviving two serious car accidents – impacted her feelings when her son was born.
She explained to The Canberra Times that, for her, PTSD manifests in unexpected ways, and it’s very different from how it’s often portrayed in films.
‘For me, it was facing an operating theatre.’
Fueled by adrenaline and a soundtrack of Taylor Swift, my son arrived into the world – in a place I absolutely dreaded being.

Sophie shared that she was able to cope with everything thanks to the wonderful care she received from the medical team, and the loving support of her husband.
Last month, the popular Australian influencer asked her followers for help with parenting. She shared that her eight-month-old baby cries a lot during the day and she was looking for advice.
Sophie had an unexpected C-section when Frankie was born and has been openly sharing her experiences – both good and challenging – as a new mom.
She shared a video on Instagram saying she was completely exhausted and didn’t know how to regain her energy to continue with things.
Sophie asked mothers everywhere, “How do you manage when you’re feeling tired and worn out?”
‘How do you keep your child entertained?’
‘I have to provide top-tier entertainment,’ she added.
‘Otherwise, there are going to be many tears. And to be honest, probably from both of us. How?’

She sighed and admitted she was feeling completely exhausted, saying she just wanted to spend the whole day relaxing in bed and watching Netflix. It felt like the ultimate expression of needing a break from motherhood.
‘But no, the sun is shining and we’ve got to get on with the day.’
Sophie has often talked about how much her son cries, and she’s described it as deeply upsetting.
She shared a heartwarming experience with a fan, saying the most rewarding part of motherhood is watching her son experience everything for the first time – like his fascination with trees, his enjoyment of walks, and his adorable smile.
It’s incredibly difficult trying to understand why babies cry, especially when you’re first learning their cues. Figuring out what each cry means can be a real challenge, and it’s heartbreaking when they seem to cry for no apparent reason.
In 2003, when Sophie was just two years old, a car crashed into her daycare, trapping her underneath the wreckage. The event quickly captured the hearts of people across Australia, who united in support of her.
The accident caused severe burns covering 85% of her body. She also lost both feet, several fingers, and her right ear.
It broke my heart to hear the news – just three years after everything else, little Lily was involved in another terrible accident. She was only five years old, and was out with her nanny near their home on Sydney’s northern beaches when she was hit by a car. It was absolutely devastating.
The crash ejected her from her wheelchair, sending her 18 metres away. She suffered severe injuries, including a broken jaw and collarbone, nine fractured ribs, punctured lungs, two broken vertebrae, and a brain injury.
