Martin Clunes confirms return to long-running BBC show alongside Taskmaster star

Martin Clunes, known for his roles in shows like Doc Martin, Out There, and Manhunt, will appear on the last episode of the current season of Have I Got News for You. This marks the 70th series overall for the popular panel show.

The actor will be guest hosting the show on Friday, December 12th at 9pm. This will be his 17th time as a guest host and his 22nd appearance on the program in total.

Comedian Phil Wang, known from the show Taskmaster, will be returning as a panelist for his fifteenth appearance, which includes a one-time stint as a guest host.

The other panelist hasn’t been confirmed at the current time.

Obviously this episode is a few weeks away, and we’ve got two more episodes to go until then.

This Friday’s show (November 28th) will be hosted by Richard Ayoade, known from The Crystal Maze. Joining him as guests are Richard Osman, from Richard Osman’s House of Games, and comedian Bella Hull.

Professor Hannah Fry returns as host next week (starting December 5th), joined by Green Party leader Zack Polanski and comedian Finlay Christie as guest panelists.

The week after the Clunes episode, a special featuring the best moments from this season will air. It’s sure to include Paul Merton’s rapid-fire jokes and Ian Hislop’s energetic opinions.

Interestingly, Martin Clunes is now set to appear in Best Medicine, which is an American adaptation of his popular British series, Doc Martin!

He is indeed starring in an international version of his show, but he’ll be playing a different character – unlike Ayoade, who played the same role in the unsuccessful American adaptation of The IT Crowd.

Instead, he will play the father of the main character, Dr. Robert Best. Dr. Best is portrayed as someone who seems arrogant and emotionally distant, with a hidden and complicated history.

Have I Got News for You airs Friday nights at 9pm on BBC One and streams on iPlayer.

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can purchase Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
