Brandi Glanville gives health update after her life was ruined by facial parasite

Brandi Glanville, known from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, says she’s recovering well and looking forward to a new chapter after a facial injury left her disfigured.

Glanville claims her facial changes were caused by parasites she contracted while filming The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Ex-Wives Club 2 in Morocco in 2023.

She spent more than $130,000 trying to resolve the problem, and at one desperate point, even attempted to self-treat with hair removal cream, which unfortunately burned her face.

This summer, she shared that she had seen an infectious disease and immunology specialist, Dr. Michael R. Scoma in New York City, and they may have found a way to help.

She didn’t share what the doctor told her, but she happily posted photos showing a significant improvement in her skin while at his office.

Glanville, 53, says she’s feeling optimistic and is finally getting back to normal after a challenging time, according to Us Weekly. She feels like herself again, though the recovery has been gradual.

She recently moved to a new home, which she says feels like a chance to begin again. She explained that the new space has allowed her to relax, refocus, and create a more peaceful and optimistic atmosphere.

Glanville appreciates the calm she’s found and is happily focusing on a simpler lifestyle, spending more time relaxing at home and prioritizing self-care.

Next Friday, she’ll be happily meeting the public at a meet-and-greet event for the goGLOW Sherman Oaks tanning salon.

Honestly, seeing her smile now just fills me with relief. It’s amazing because I know what she went through – it was so much. I mean, she was completely broken, financially and emotionally. She’s hinted at it, but it was really bad… she actually told someone she didn’t want to live anymore. It’s incredible to see her doing so well now, knowing how close we almost lost her.

She managed to dramatically improve her situation this summer after a visit with Dr. Scoma, who reached out to her after seeing her upset tweets about what she was going through.

In mid-August, she proudly shared a photo on Instagram of her face after restoration work, taken in Dr. Scoma’s office with him standing beside her.

She explained in her post that while some people criticize Twitter, it was exactly what she needed to get help for a kind man who reached out after seeing her request.

In late July, she shared that she was working with Dr. Scoma and felt she was ‘finally getting answers’ about her health. She thanked her doctor and added, with excitement, that she was looking forward to dating again.

Before finding a doctor who could help, she desperately tried to find ways to address the problems with her face after her health began to decline.

Glanville once sought the opinion of Dr. Terry Dubrow, known as the host of the show ‘Botched’ and husband of ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ star Heather Dubrow. He didn’t agree with her idea that a parasitic infection caused her physical condition.

He mentioned he was worried she might have an infection or be reacting badly to something that was injected into her.

I just… I can’t even begin to explain how much she suffered trying to fix everything. It cost her a fortune – over $130,000! She went to doctor after doctor, more than twenty, desperately trying to get back to normal, and now she’s drowning in medical bills. It breaks my heart just thinking about it.

She said her insurance company dismissed her concerns, claiming she only had inflammation and that previous facial fillers were the cause. Doctors, she added, also didn’t take her seriously regarding the unusual lumps she was experiencing on her face.

Glanville explained she’s only making the minimum payments on her credit cards and has used up all of her savings. She shares two sons, Mason, 22, and Jake, 18, with her ex-husband, Eddie Cibrian, who left her for his now-wife, LeAnn Rimes.

I feel a bit lost now that I’m getting older. I used to be very responsible and financially secure, but now I worry constantly about even small things.

To fight her insurance company’s denials, she hired Rachel Strauss, a healthcare strategist known as the “PBM Princess.” PBM stands for Pharmacy Benefit Managers, the companies that handle prescription drug benefits.
