New Pokémon Card Trademark Hinting At Massive 30th Anniversary Set

The Pokémon Trading Card Game has had a great year with releases like the recent Phantasmal Flames set. Looking ahead, Pokémon has already announced sets planned for 2026. Now, a newly discovered trademark suggests that a special collection to celebrate the game’s 30th anniversary might be on the way soon.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game has filed a trademark for something called the “Celebration Collection” in Japan, despite the name being in English. According to the fan site PokeBeach, this filing follows the same process used for naming past sets. Fans online are very excited about the news, with one user enthusiastically writing, “We’re gonna eat!”

Pokémon Has Trademarked “Celebration Collection” In English

While not officially announced as a new set, this trademark filing strongly suggests one is coming. The name “Celebration Collection” is very similar to the “Celebrations” branding used for Pokémon’s 25th anniversary. If this is correct, it will be one of several Pokémon Trading Card Game sets planned for release in 2026. No cards from this collection have been revealed yet.

So far, Japan has announced six new Pokémon Trading Card Game sets coming out in late 2025 and 2026. While details are still emerging, some English set names have been revealed, and Ascended Heroes was officially confirmed as the first English set launching this year. All the sets planned for 2026 are expected to continue the current Mega Evolution series, which features the popular gameplay mechanic from the Gen 6 Pokémon games and is also a key part of the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A video game.

Signs Point Toward A 30th Anniversary Set Releasing In 2026

The Pokémon franchise often marks big events with special releases in its Trading Card Game (TCG). For example, the 20th anniversary included a sought-after Charizard set. When Pokémon celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2021, they released commemorative cards, including ones distributed in McDonald’s Happy Meals – which unfortunately led to many being resold at inflated prices. Along with those, the Pokémon TCG also launched the ‘Celebrations’ set, featuring specially marked cards to honor the milestone.

The recently announced “Celebration Collection” seems to hint at a larger set coming to celebrate Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary in 2026 – a fitting timeline, given the milestone. Hopefully, these new Pokémon Trading Card Game cards won’t be affected by the issue of scalpers buying them up, and we’ll get a preview of the collection soon.
