Following yesterday’s announcement of his separation from Kate, after seven years of marriage, sources are now sharing details about the difficulties in their relationship and what life was like behind the scenes.

According to one account, Jeff was determined to create an image of a perfect family and hoped Kate could replace Jade Goody in their lives. However, his sons, Bobby and Freddy, never fully embraced her as their stepmother.

They saw her as Jeff’s companion, not as a person they had a real connection with, and felt she altered him for the worse.

Despite appearing happy in public, Kate and Jeff’s relationship was actually quite volatile. This isn’t the first time they’ve broken up, and sources say their arguments have been really intense behind closed doors.

Freddy, known from appearing with his father on the BBC show Celebrity Race Across The World last year, has recently been more open about his difficulties with his dad. He believes Jeff’s strained relationship with Jade’s mother, Jackiey, has significantly harmed his own emotional health.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, he shared that nothing – not even his father’s disapproval – would stop him from visiting his grandmother. He explained that she was the person he felt closest to, reminding him of his late mother.

For her part, Jackiey raged that Jeff had no right to block her relationship with her grandson.

Freddy also expressed anger towards his father regarding money, claiming his dad continued to manage his finances even after he was grown up.

The brothers each have a trust fund left to them by their mother, but they won’t have complete control of it until they turn 25. The 21-year-old son feels his father is too controlling with the money he can currently access.
