Okay, so I just saw the trailer for this new A24 movie, How to Make a Killing, and it looks wild! It stars Glen Powell as a guy named Beckett Redfellow who was basically cut off from his super-rich family at birth. Now, he’s decided the best way to get his share of the fortune is… well, let’s just say he’s considering some very drastic measures involving his relatives. It used to be called Huntington, but the premise is the same: he’s willing to do anything – and I mean anything – to get that inheritance. Dark comedy, definitely, and I’m already hooked!
The trailer for How to Make a Killing begins with Beckett daydreaming about a life of luxury, revealing to viewers that he always expected to receive his family’s fortune, even after being cut off from them.
After Margaret Qualley’s character playfully suggests to Beckett that he should “call me when you’ve killed them all” – meaning his family – he starts to seriously consider eliminating the seven relatives who are preventing him from getting his inheritance. He begins his plan by politely introducing himself to each relative, before one of them is unexpectedly pulled from a yacht and into the ocean.
The situation quickly spirals out of control, with gunshots fired and characters being handcuffed. The trailer shows Redfellow even drawing a bow and arrow. It ends with Qualley’s character saying to Beckett, “Until then, I’m sure you’ll make a killing.” You can watch the trailer below.
I’m so excited for How to Make a Killing to hit theaters on February 20, 2026! The movie stars Powell and Qualley, and it’s got an amazing supporting cast with Jessica Henwick, Bill Camp, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, and the legendary Ed Harris. John Patton Ford wrote and directed it, which makes me even more eager to see it!
Glen Powell is continuing to take on a variety of roles, and his latest project is the dark comedy How to Make a Killing. The trailer for the film arrived just a couple of weeks after he led the cast in Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man. Powell also created and starred in the Hulu sports comedy Chad Powers, with the first season’s final episode dropping on October 28th.
Powell previously starred in the Netflix dark comedy Hit Man, playing a man who pretends to be a hitman. Now, he’s building on that experience with a new A24 film, but this time, his character actually becomes a killer.
Margaret Qualley has earned two Emmy nominations for her roles in the series Fosse/Verdon and Maid. She’s also well-known and praised for her work in shows like HBO’s The Leftovers and the horror film The Substance.
In 2026, Powell and Qualley are set to star in How to Make a Killing, a film that could be one of A24’s most successful releases.
