The first few hours of Camp Flog Gnaw are for shopping.
This year’s festival, headlined by ASAP Rocky, Doechii, and Childish Gambino and hosted by Tyler, the Creator, is also famous for showcasing Tyler’s own clothing lines. These include Golf Wang, a streetwear brand, and Golf le Fleur, his more upscale fashion label.
As a movie buff, going to these events isn’t just about seeing the actors I love – it’s also a chance to snag some seriously cool, limited-edition merch. I’m talking about stuff you can’t find anywhere else, like those collaborations with Arizona Tea or One of these Days, which usually sell out online instantly. It’s a real treasure hunt!
Carlos Alcaraz, a longtime fan and resident of Whittier, explained that shopping from Tyler is special because of the limited quantities available. “He only releases small batches of products,” Alcaraz said. “Being able to buy those exclusive items is a big reason we come to the festival – we know we’ll find things you can’t get anywhere else.”

Alcaraz bought $750 worth of items, including a Dodgers-themed jacket from Camp Flog Gnaw that he really liked. He believes it will be popular and sell out fast, since it wasn’t sold online.
The festival has several tents filled with Flog Gnaw and Golf Wang merchandise, and people are waiting in long lines to shop. There’s also a special Converse pop-up shop featuring the Golf le Fleur collection, where customers can relax and try on the popular shoes.
Within hours, bright yellow “Golf” bags were everywhere at the festival. Many people had multiple bags and were lining up to store their purchases in lockers. Others immediately put on their new Golf-branded hats and shirts.
Tyler the Creator is known for his signature fluorescent bag, and fashion has played a huge role in his success. During his recent concert in Los Angeles, which was themed around the city’s subway system, he wore a full red leather outfit to match the colors of his latest album, “Don’t Tap the Glass.” Many fans in the audience showed their support for the album by also wearing red, including hats with the word “glass” and similar leather outfits.
Vinicio Corleto was excited to wait in line for the Golf le Fleur pop-up shop. He’d been wanting a pair of the collection’s 1908 Bronco Brown Boots ever since they were first released.
According to Corleto, the items sold out online in about 20 minutes and are now unavailable except through resellers who are charging $600. Knowing they would also be available at the festival, he decided to arrive early to try and get some. He’s budgeting around $300, but expects to end up spending closer to $600 on merchandise in total.

Tyler, the Creator has a big influence on his fans’ fashion choices. You’ll often see people copying his looks, like the furry ushankas he popularized during the release of his 2018 album, “Call Me if You Get Lost.” Others embrace his use of soft, pastel colors, bold patterned vests, or his classic outfit of a button-down shirt, tie, and baseball cap.
Cesar Carbajal, a local from Los Angeles, explained he chose to wear pastel colors today – a departure from his usual style of black and gray. He was wearing a light blue guayabera and arrived early to snag a Dodgers jacket. He even mentioned he doesn’t typically wear pink, but started after listening to Tyler, the Creator’s album ‘Igor,’ which he says gives him a confidence boost.
Staff working at the merchandise booths are wearing green Golf hoodies. Jason Leonard, who was assisting with the line, explained that the matching outfits are meant to showcase the brand. He’s worked four Tyler, the Creator events and has observed how much Tyler’s style impacts fans’ fashion choices.
Leonard observed that attendees often dress like Tyler, creating a noticeable trend. He described it as if many people were trying to emulate him, and noted that people were willing to spend a significant amount of money to be there. He said they come prepared to spend hundreds of dollars.
