As a Clash Royale player, I’m really excited about Heroes! They’re basically super-powered versions of the cards we already know and love. Each Hero has a cool, unique ability that can totally change a battle. You really have to think about them when you’re building a deck, figuring out your strategy, and trying to defend your towers. They add a whole new layer to the game, honestly!
These troops have some things in common with Champions, particularly the special abilities they use in battle. While they function differently, they often feel very similar when you’re playing.
Heroes will be added to Clash Royale at the start of Season 78 on December 1st, 2025.
How Heroes Work in Clash Royale

Each Hero has a special ability that can significantly change the course of a match. Like Champions, using a Hero’s ability requires Elixir and has a recharge time before it can be used again.
To play Heroes, just put them in one of the gold slots in your deck. You can turn them into their Hero form by clicking their ability during a fight. Just remember that some Hero abilities can only be used once each time you play them.
It’s important to know that Heroes and Champions both use the same deck slots. You can unlock a total of two extra slots – one for Heroes and one for Champions. The first additional slot becomes available at Arena Level 15, and the second at Arena Level 25.

You can still only include up to two Card Evolutions in your deck, and a maximum of two Champions or Heroes as well.
How to Unlock Heroes in Clash Royale
As a Clash Royale player, I’ve learned you need to gather 200 Hero Fragments to unlock a new, random Hero. Luckily, there are a few ways to get them! You can earn fragments by taking part in special events, opening Hero Boxes, or progressing through the Pass Royale. It takes a bit of grinding, but it’s so worth it to get those powerful Heroes!
If you happen to get a Hero you already have, you’ll receive cards for that Hero, plus 60 Fragments.
All Heroes in Clash Royale

Clash Royale currently features four Heroes: the Hero Giant, Hero Knight, Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A., and Hero Musketeer.
Here’s an overview of all the Heroes and their respective abilities:
| Hero | Ability |
| Hero Giant | Heroic Hurl: The Hero Giant is capable of throwing nearby enemy troops into the opposite lane. Thrown enemies will be stunned upon landing and will receive minor damage. |
| Hero Knight | Triumphant Taunt: The Hero Knight taunts nearby enemies and Crown Towers to attack him. He will also gain a hefty shield that can help him survive incoming damage. |
| Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A | Breakfast Boost: The Mini P.E.K.K.A will generate pancakes on the battlefield, which he will eat during combat. Each pancake consumed will upgrade him by one level. He can stack up to five pancakes at a time, meaning the Mini P.E.K.K.A can be upgraded up to five times during each deployment. |
| Hero Musketeer | Trusty Turret: The Hero Musketeer will spawn a short-ranged, auto-turret in front of her. It will deal area-of-effect damage when placed and is capable of targeting air and ground units. |
We expect Supercell to add more Heroes to Clash Royale in future updates.
