The Sweet Memento Michael B. Jordan Keeps Around To Remind Him Of Black Panther Co-Star Chadwick Boseman

The Marvel Cinematic Universe consistently delivers new movies and shows, both in theaters and on Disney+. Among its many popular storylines, the Black Panther series, directed by Ryan Coogler, is a particular favorite with fans. Recently, Michael B. Jordan shared a special keepsake he has to remember his late co-star, Chadwick Boseman.

The film Black Panther was a critical and popular hit, becoming an instant cultural phenomenon. Chadwick Boseman’s portrayal of the lead role made him an inspiration to many, making his untimely death particularly heartbreaking. In a video shared by BAFTA, Michael B. Jordan explained that he keeps a stuffed panther as a way to remember his friend and colleague, Boseman, and shared:

Seeing this brings my friend, Chadwick Boseman, to mind. It will always remind me of the opportunity we had to work together.

Michael B. Jordan and Chadwick Boseman had incredible on-screen chemistry in the hit Marvel movie Black Panther, portraying rivals who eventually found understanding. Sadly, their future collaborations were cut short by Boseman’s untimely passing. A plush panther toy can be seen deflating in the background.

Michael B. Jordan made a surprise appearance in Wakanda Forever, appearing as Killmonger in a spiritual realm while speaking with Shuri. The film largely focused on dealing with loss, and the actors and filmmakers drew on their genuine grief over the death of Chadwick Boseman to create the movie.

Disney+ subscriptions start at $11.99 per month with ads. It’s the place to stream Marvel Cinematic Universe content, including all the Black Panther movies. You can remove the ads for $18.99 a month, or save 16% by paying $189.99 for a full year. See the deal here.

It’s clear the passing of Chadwick Boseman still deeply affects the Black Panther cast. I’ve been reading a lot about how they’ve each dealt with the loss, and it’s incredibly moving. Jordan Peele keeps a special memento, while Lupita Nyong’o has shared beautiful, heartfelt tributes to her friend and colleague. Angela Bassett has also spoken candidly about the grief and the respectful decision not to replace T’Challa – a choice that feels absolutely right.

Even after several years, Michael B. Jordan clearly still feels the loss of Chadwick Boseman. It’s touching to see how the star of Creed—who also directed the film—continues to remember and honor his Black Panther colleague, showing that grief comes and goes in waves.

Given that Wakanda Forever deeply explored the real-life loss of Chadwick Boseman, it will be interesting to see what direction Ryan Coogler takes the series in the future. The film’s ending introduced several possibilities, most notably the discovery that T’Challa and Nakia had a son. Although Shuri has become the new Black Panther, she isn’t currently leading Wakanda as its queen.

Although the release date for Black Panther 3 is still unknown, Shuri and M’Baku are both anticipated to be in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to come out in theaters on December 18th of next year as part of the 2026 film lineup.
