A new drama series called Watson, based on the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, is now available to watch in the UK. This show offers a unique twist on the classic tales, reimagining them as a medical drama.
The show centers on John Watson (Morris Chestnut) after he steps away from detective work following the death of his friend, Sherlock Holmes. He starts a new life and opens a medical practice in Pittsburgh.
But things take a turn when John is forced to deal with secrets from his past. Disturbing new evidence suggests his old enemy, Professor James Moriarty, might have survived their previous encounter with Sherlock Holmes.

The show Watson has finally come to the UK after debuting in the US in January. The first two episodes are now available on Sky and NOW, and the next two will air on Sky Witness on December 1st. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to watch the whole season at once – you’ll have to wait for them to air.
The series, described by CBS as a fresh look at a classic detective, is created by Craig Sweeny and also stars Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, and Rochelle Aytes.

Professional critics had a mixed reaction to the first season of the medical drama. Currently, Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 50% approval rating based on 18 reviews.
Sometimes it’s nice to escape reality, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, those escapes are most satisfying when the fictional world is more engaging than the real one.
Critics weren’t kind to the show. AV Club said it felt like a predictable copy of past medical dramas and lacked the sharp humor that made House successful. USA Today was even more critical, stating that combining a typical ‘case-of-the-week’ format with a weak attempt at a Sherlock Holmes-style story led to a complete failure.

While some reviews were mixed, Variety praised the show, noting that K. Chestnut’s charming performance, combined with deeper character development and intriguing medical cases, helped Watson improve and become more engaging.
Recently, several new takes on the Sherlock Holmes stories have emerged. Besides Watson, both the French series Mademoiselle Holmes and the period drama Sherlock & Daughter have become available to UK audiences this year.
Watson airs on Sky Witness while streaming on Sky Go and NOW.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can purchase Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
