The series ‘Welcome to Derry’ has been a really exciting and scary experience so far, exploring both frightening moments and the history of Pennywise the clown. Pennywise is central to the story, and while defeated in the past, it’s never been truly destroyed. However, the latest episode suggests a potential weapon that could finally break the cycle of Pennywise’s evil.
Warning- Major spoilers ahead.
Can the dagger really kill Pennywise in It: Welcome to Derry?
The series featured plenty of action and suspense, but it didn’t rush to introduce Pennywise, the main villain. It wasn’t until the fifth episode of ‘IT: Welcome to Derry’ that Pennywise actually attacked someone. However, a strange weapon found in the sewers managed to stop him.
This marks a significant development in the fight against Pennywise. While methods have existed to defeat him temporarily, this new weapon appears to be the first with the potential to destroy him for good.
The fifth episode of ‘IT’ revealed that Pennywise isn’t a supernatural being, but an alien that crashed to Earth long ago in a meteor. After landing, it began preying on the people of Derry.
Long ago, the Shokopiwah people, native to the area, forged a dagger from the fragments of a fallen star. They used this weapon to contain a powerful force. For many years, the tribe thrived by remaining within their ancestral lands, but eventually, settlers began to move into the forest.
After Sesqui’s death, Necari created powerful weapons and used them to imprison IT by burying thirteen shards in a circular pattern. For generations, members of the tribe maintained this containment. It was later discovered that this circle of shards lay directly beneath the Neibolt house.
The movie IT: Welcome to Derry showed us how Pennywise can actually be defeated, which changes how we understand the entire story.
IT: Welcome to Derry episode 6 will release on November 30, 2025.
