First Look at Mario’s New Costume In ‘Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ (Photos)

As a longtime moviegoer – and a fan of Nintendo – I was intrigued by the first glimpse of Mario’s new look in the marketing for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It reminded me that Mario’s always been a character who transforms, ever since his original appearance in Donkey Kong back in 1981. These changes aren’t just cosmetic; they usually give him special abilities to help him on his adventures. And it looks like that tradition of transforming is continuing in this new Mario film, with our favorite plumber sporting several different outfits.

The initial trailer and poster for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie showed off a redesigned Mario, played by Chris Pratt. His new outfit includes a poncho reminiscent of the style in Mad Max, and he’s wearing a pair of goggles around his neck.

The first poster for the movie also shows Luigi wearing a similar outfit, with the giant, upside-down pyramid from the Sand Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey visible in the background.

In Mario Odyssey, players could find a costume that looked a lot like this one while trying to rescue Princess Peach, though it had some noticeable differences.

In The Odyssey, Mario’s outfit resembled the colorful decorations used for the “Day of the Dead” celebrations in the San Kingdom. His costume had a woven texture and included a large sombrero.

Viewers first caught a glimpse of this new outfit in the movie’s original trailer. The short preview showed Mario wearing the goggles as part of the costume while riding a motorcycle through a desert.

Mario will still be wearing his classic denim overalls in the new movie.

The movie trailer shows Mario and Luigi with their classic plumber outfits, standing inside Princess Peach’s castle.

The first Super Mario Movie included several of Mario’s classic outfits from the video games, such as the Fire Flower, Cat Mario, and the Tanooki suit – which many fans will recognize from Super Mario Bros. 3.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the latest collaboration between Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment, bringing Nintendo’s popular video game series to the big screen once again. This time, Mario and his friends journey into space when a new villain, Bowser Jr., appears.

Chris Pratt returns as Mario, alongside Charlie Day as Luigi and Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach in the new film. Joining the cast are Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., adding fresh faces to the world of the Mario Movie.

What Other Costume Will Mario Wear in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has a great opportunity to showcase some of Mario’s most iconic costumes. Interestingly, this new poncho design isn’t from the Mario Galaxy games, suggesting the movie might feature many Mario looks that aren’t based on those specific titles or their sequel.

As a huge Mario fan, I’m already brainstorming what costumes they could include in the new animated movie! There’s so much potential with things like Bee Mario, Boo Mario, Spring Mario, Rock Mario, and Cloud Mario – they’d all be amazing to see brought to life on the big screen.

These ideas open up exciting possibilities for unique and diverse levels throughout the galaxy, like Mario assisting a bee civilization in space or disguising himself amongst ghostly Boos.

It’s also possible we’ll see other popular Mario costumes from the games in the new film. Looks like Ice Mario, Cape Mario, and Propeller Hat Mario haven’t been featured yet, so they could be considered too.
