Tim Lai, known for appearing on the reality TV show Gogglebox Australia, has surprised his followers with the news that he’s been diagnosed with cancer. He hasn’t shared specific details about the type of cancer he’s battling.
The 46-year-old TV personality recently posted a video online explaining how it was negatively affecting his health.
“Things have been really difficult lately,” Tim started. “I’ve been feeling quite sick to my stomach, and I still am. Even drinking a little water makes me feel like I’m going to be sick.”
He added he was in significant pain due to his body’s weakened state.
He explained he was experiencing severe cramps, bad headaches, and widespread body aches. He also bruised easily, and even a small scratch on his face had become infected.
Even though I’m constantly exhausted, I’m staying strong and optimistic. Things are starting to look up as I continue with my cancer treatment. #healthupdate #cancerjourney

Angie Kent, Tim’s co-star, expressed her sympathy, writing, ‘I’m so sorry to hear this and sending you lots of love and strength, sweet angel.’
‘Love you Tim,’ added Isabelle Silberry.
Sarah Marie Fahd sent Tim her love and wishes for a speedy recovery, adding that she knows he’s strong and capable of overcoming any challenge.
Tim has been a regular on Channel Ten’s Gogglebox Australia since 2019, opposite his sister Leanne.
Back in 2020, people online were shocked to learn Tim was in his 40s, as he looks remarkably young.
One viewer expressed disbelief after reading an article, commenting, “There’s no way Tim is in his forties! He looks so young!”
Tim often gets mistaken for being younger than he actually is. He jokes that people don’t believe his age until they see his driver’s license!

He once playfully told the Daily Mail he appears youthful because he “spent years as a computer programmer working in dark offices without any sunlight… so no sun damage!”
Putting humor aside, Tim shared that as he gets older, he’s realized how important his family and friends are to his daily happiness.
As I approach 50 – it’s hard to believe! – I’ve realized something amazing: the key to a good life is family, he explained.
Feeling loved and connected to the people who support you – whether they’re family by blood or family you choose – is what brings me joy and keeps me feeling youthful.
