Taylor Swift apparently made a surprise 3,500-mile trip to Croydon to shoot a music video at a shopping center.
The 35-year-old singer, a global superstar, was reportedly in the UK this week to secretly film a new music video with several of her celebrity friends.
Taylor traveled from New Jersey to Hampshire via private jet last weekend. Sources say Lewis Capaldi and Domhnall Gleeson were also present for filming.
Okay, so get this – I’m completely losing it trying to track where they filmed everything, and apparently, part of it was at the old Whitgift Centre in Croydon! Can you believe it? That place has been falling apart for ages, it’s practically abandoned, but they used it! It’s so cool and unexpected, honestly. I’ve been scouring photos trying to pinpoint the exact spots… it’s amazing!
According to a source, the making of this video was highly secretive. Taylor Swift’s security team worked tirelessly to keep her hidden from the public throughout the entire process, essentially operating like a well-coordinated military unit.
‘But she IS the most powerful woman in pop, so if she wants to go unseen, she’ll make it happen.’

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Taylor for comment.
The secretive photoshoot was reportedly for her popular song, “Elizabeth Taylor.” The singer specifically chose London as the filming location to honor the iconic actress’s British heritage.
The singer wrote a song on her latest album about Elizabeth, filling the lyrics with nods to the beloved actress.
Reports last week said Taylor planned to honor Elizabeth by featuring the city of her birth in the music video.
Born in Hampstead, North London in 1932, the celebrated actress – famous for her performances in films like Cleopatra, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? – moved to Los Angeles at the age of seven.
According to a source, Taylor is thrilled to be filming her latest music video in London.
Elizabeth Taylor, a beloved British star, hopes to film scenes in London as a tribute to the city.
Taylor often writes about her affection for London, and the new video will showcase various spots throughout the city.

The song “Elizabeth Taylor” is packed with references to the iconic actress, including a mention of her striking violet eyes and a nod to her popular 1991 perfume, “White Diamonds.”
Taylor Swift often connects her own past relationships to Elizabeth Taylor’s complicated love life, especially considering Taylor’s eight marriages to seven different husbands.
Taylor sings about achieving great success – reaching number one – but feeling like something is missing. They’ve had a hit song, but haven’t had someone special to share the moment with.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I always find it fascinating when art reflects real life! This song beautifully nods to some of Elizabeth Taylor’s most beloved places. It mentions Portofino, a gorgeous Italian coastal town she often escaped to, and the Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris – a place she and Richard Burton were frequent guests at. It really paints a picture of their glamorous life, doesn’t it?
Taylor Swift connected the color ‘Portofino Orange’ to her ‘Showgirl’ era and often wore it during the final shows of her Eras tour, which concluded last December.
The Eras artist opened up about the meaning of the song in a recent Z100 radio interview.
She described one song, ‘Elizabeth Taylor,’ as a way of exploring her feelings and struggles with fame. It’s about blending her own experiences with the imagined life of the actress, almost like stepping into her shoes.
Taylor shared her deep admiration for the late icon, explaining, ‘I’ve always seen her as glamorous and widely loved, but also surprisingly controversial – a position I can relate to personally.’
As Taylor Swift fans are aware, this isn’t the first time she’s mentioned Elizabeth in her music.
Taylor Swift hinted at her classic Hollywood style before in the music video for ‘Wildest Dreams’.
In her 2018 album, Reputation, Taylor Swift made a direct nod to Elizabeth Taylor’s passionate and often dramatic relationship with Richard Burton, including the line ‘Burton to my Taylor’ in the song ‘Ready For It?’.
