Louise Thompson, known for appearing on the show Made in Chelsea, has shared that she won’t be able to have more children due to complications from a difficult birth four years ago.
Louise, a 35-year-old advocate for women’s health and maternity rights, experienced a life-threatening birth with her son Leo in 2021. The serious complications left her with post-traumatic stress.
She recently shared that her injuries – including Asherman’s Syndrome (where scar tissue forms inside the uterus), ongoing bowel issues, and emergency surgery after a severe postpartum hemorrhage – prevent her from being able to have another child.
Following a summer appearance before the Birth Trauma All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), Louise – whose story was featured in serial form in The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine last year – began working with former Conservative MP Theo Clarke.
As someone passionate about women’s wellbeing, I’m excited to share news about a really important initiative. Louise and Ms. Clarke, the incredible women behind the APPG and the first national investigation into birth trauma, are launching a petition soon. They’re asking the government to appoint someone dedicated to overseeing maternity care, ensuring better support for new mothers. They’re aiming for 100,000 signatures – which would trigger a debate in Parliament – and I truly believe this could make a huge difference. Keep an eye out for it – I’ll be signing, and I hope you will too!
As someone who follows family trends closely, I’m hearing from more and more women who are hesitant about starting a family. It seems a lot of negative stories circulating are really giving them pause – they’re being put off by what they’re reading and hearing about the challenges of motherhood. It’s a real concern, and something we need to address to support women and families.
Many people I know are frequently discussing issues with the population.
I’ve been hearing from many women who feel the same way. For me personally, I know I can’t have any more children, and that makes me realize we’re now part of the issue being discussed.

After giving birth to her daughter, Arabella, Ms. Clarke, age 40, experienced urinary incontinence and a severe tear in the area between her vagina and anus.
A young woman, who is the niece of politician Jacob Rees-Mogg, recently gained widespread attention online after becoming visibly emotional while speaking in Parliament about her personal experiences.
She stated that women have lost faith in the healthcare system and are likely afraid to give birth in British hospitals right now.
