Devastated Joey Essex announces the death of his uncle in a heartbreaking tribute on social media to fans

Joey Essex shared sad news on social media, announcing the passing of his uncle and posting a heartfelt message.

The 35-year-old reality star from The Only Way Is Essex shared photos spanning the years with his close friend, affectionately known as ‘Big Greg,’ and expressed his enduring love for him.

Joey shared a heartfelt message about his Uncle Greg, describing him as a truly special person. He was a wonderful uncle to Joey and a great brother to his father, and Joey admired him as the perfect example of a family man.

‘We will all miss you so much. Rest in peace mate love you forever.’ 

Joey’s sister Frankie Essex called Greg ‘the best’ in the post’s comments section.

The upload also sparked sympathies from Joey’s celebrity pals. 

TOWIE’s James ‘Diags’ Bennewith, 34, shared a tribute, saying Greg was a wonderful person who always spread positivity and made everyone feel at home. He finished with a message of rest in peace.

Singer Pixie Lott, 34, penned: ‘hope ur ok joey sending lots of love (sic).’

And boxing reporter Colm McGuigan said: ‘Sorry for your loss my bro.’

Joey’s fans also sent their condolences.  

In her own tribute, Frankie penned: ‘Forever our Big G.

Greg had an incredible capacity for love, especially for his family and friends. He had a way of making everyone feel instantly comfortable, like they’d known him forever.

‘I’m so grateful for the time we had, for the memories, for the laughs and especially for you. 

As a lifestyle expert, I always say it’s about embracing your roots, and this gentleman truly did! He was a proud son of Bermondsey, a lifelong Millwall fan, and someone who wasn’t afraid to experience everything the world had to offer. He really lived life to the fullest, and that’s something I deeply admire.

She was a wonderful wife, daughter, and grandmother, and your daughters and we all promise to always care for her legacy and those she loved.

Greg was an actor and porter at Billingsgate Market, London.

He was also a co-owner of Beluga Seafood and Grill in Billericay, Essex, alongside well-known chef Dez Harkness.

The restaurant first opened in September 2014, but unexpectedly closed in April 2015 because of a problem with its lease.
