Jeremy Renner has been seen publicly for the first time after being accused of sending inappropriate photos and threatening to report Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou to immigration authorities.
Marvel actor, age 54, attended the second annual amfAR gala in Las Vegas, which took place at the Wynn hotel on Friday.
Despite strong denials of the accusations made by Zhou, 47, the actor appeared cheerful and unbothered while posing for pictures on the red carpet.
The Hurt Locker star sported a black suit and tie, with his hair gelled back for the night.
The actor received a Philanthropic Leadership Award at the event, which also featured appearances by Ciara, Ava Max, Chanel Iman, and others.
This yearly gala is a fundraising event to support amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research.
This event follows a recent dispute with Zhou. They had previously worked together on a documentary and an animated film, but Zhou has since claimed Renner sent her inappropriate and unwanted intimate photos and videos hoping to begin a romantic relationship.
According to an interview with the Daily Mail, Zhou alleges that Renner became verbally abusive while intoxicated, frightening her. She claims he then threatened to report her to immigration authorities after they had a disagreement.
Honestly, I was terrified. He was so furious, I actually had to lock myself in a room, just hoping he wouldn’t try to get in during the night. I couldn’t even speak, I was paralyzed with fear for my life. It was awful, truly awful.
She shared her claims on Instagram, stating she had experienced significant fear for her safety and emotional distress.
Jeremy Renner disputed the allegations, and his lawyer, Marty Singer, sent a legal notice to Zhou demanding a retraction and threatening a lawsuit if she didn’t comply, according to TMZ.
The letter states that Jeremy Renner agreed to be in Zhou’s documentary, Chronicles of Disney, but their first meeting in July became awkward when Zhou reportedly made a romantic advance towards him.
Renner maintains there was a ‘brief consensual encounter’, per the letter.
He states that he told her in August he didn’t want to continue any sexual relationship.
During a subsequent meeting, he placed Zhou in a guest bedroom to avoid any additional intimacy.
He also alleges that Zhou repeatedly contacted him with sexually explicit messages and pressured him for intimacy, even during a car ride to the airport following their work together.
The actor maintains that after their first meeting, their connection was always just business.
He claims Zhou threatened to damage his reputation if he didn’t promote her film and falsely suggest they were in a relationship.

They’re basically threatening her with a lawsuit – a huge one, like millions of dollars! – if she doesn’t stop talking, if she doesn’t stop sharing what she knows. Singer also called Zhou’s claims ‘false, outrageous and highly defamatory.’
Singer also claimed Zhou was upset because Renner hadn’t responded to her romantic feelings and hadn’t shared her work on social media.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Zhou said that Renner became intoxicated during a meeting at his house about their movie and shouted for two hours. She stated she was frightened and hid in the bathroom during the outburst.
Zhou said they were talking about the arrangements for the document when the person drank an entire bottle of wine by themselves, became very angry, and shouted for two hours.

Texts reportedly exchanged with her Disney coworkers during the incident reveal Zhou described Renner as ‘violent.’ However, when asked if she felt safe, she responded, ‘yes I should be ok.’
Okay, so I’ve been following this whole thing with Jeremy Renner, and apparently, this documentarian has leaked texts she claims are from her conversations with people during that crazy August 20th incident. She says the texts show what Renner was supposedly saying – a drunken rant, if you can believe it. It’s just… wow. I’ve been glued to every update, and this feels like a huge piece of the puzzle. ‘Can you lock yourself in the bathroom? He sounds crazy,’ one co-worker wrote.
‘I did lock hope he can’t open,’ Zhou replied. ‘I m [so] worried he yelled for 2 hours with one bottle of wine down alone.’
In recent posts on Instagram, Zhou stated she had been living in fear for her safety and experiencing significant emotional distress.
She wrote that it was with great sadness and regret that she had to finally share something she’d been keeping secret for a long time.
No one in film or any creative field should have to face that kind of emotional stress and feel forced to defend their reputation and artistic vision.
She accused the Hurt Locker actor of ‘misconduct’ in the post.
In June, Mr. Renner reached out to me and sent personal photos of himself, which, according to news reports, he’s done previously.
Zhou shared a photo of a man’s bare chest on her Instagram, and she told the Daily Mail that actor Jeremy Renner had sent it to her without her asking.
‘I have a collection of those photos and the porn gifs that he sent,’ she said.
Zhou showed the Daily Mail a screenshot of a WhatsApp message she claims Renner sent her in June. The message contained a brief pornographic video clip of two actors, along with a drooling emoji and the question, ‘This ok ???’
She explained that he seemed genuine, telling her he hadn’t been in a relationship for a while and was looking for something serious. She said she trusted him and wanted to believe in love and the possibility of change.
Zhou told the Daily Mail that Renner made unwanted sexual advances toward her, they worked together professionally, and then he later claimed they hadn’t had a relationship.
‘I did not reach out to him, he pursued me,’ she said. ‘I didn’t even know his name, never watched a movie of his.
‘He used me and denied me and denied our work.’
After Zhou shared Instagram videos in September of her riding in Renner’s convertible near his Reno, Nevada home, fans began to wonder if they were in a relationship.
Last month she told the Daily Mail that she had been dating the actor.
Zhou later criticized him on Instagram, accusing him of not promoting two projects they collaborated on: a documentary about Disney employees, titled Chronicles of Disney, where he played a significant role, and an animated film called Stardust Future, for which he provided voice acting.
The filmmaker said that after she privately confronted him about his past behavior and asked him to treat her with respect – both as a woman and as a professional – he threatened to report her to immigration authorities. She described being deeply shocked and frightened by this threat.
The Daily Mail published a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation reportedly between Zhou and Renner. In the messages, Zhou allegedly called Renner a ‘pig’ and accused him of sending explicit photos through apps, adding that no one had spoken up about it yet.
Renner responded: ‘Immigration will be notified of your-‘ with the rest of the message cut off.
Zhou refused to provide the Daily Mail with the rest of Renner’s alleged text.
Representatives for Renner have not responded to the Daily Mail.
