Ariana Grande bids farewell to Glinda as she battles COVID days after fan ambush amid Wicked press tour

Ariana Grande is bidding farewell to her iconic role of Glinda The Good Witch.

Now that the second ‘Wicked’ movie is in theaters, Ariana Grande shared a heartfelt message and some fun behind-the-scenes photos to celebrate her famous role.

I just wanted to share how incredibly grateful I am for Glinda – she means the world to me, and I’ll cherish her always. And exciting news – ‘Wicked For Good’ is finally here! I can’t wait for you all to experience it.

The photos show Ariana Grande during filming, including shots of her beautiful pink dress being made for the role of Glinda and scenes from the enchanting set.

The movie Wicked: For Good came out in theaters on November 21st, but Ariana Grande recently tested positive for Covid and won’t be able to celebrate the release as planned.

The singer and actress revealed on Instagram Stories Thursday that she had recently tested positive for COVID-19. She shared a photo from her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with the caption, ‘moments before Covid.’

She received her diagnosis just a few days after missing press events for the New York premiere of ‘For Good’. She did this to support her co-star, Cynthia Erivo, who was sick and had temporarily lost her voice.

The press tour itself has been anything but smooth.

Ariana Grande didn’t attend the first showing of the movie in Brazil. Later, at the Singapore event, a fan managed to get past security and ran towards her on the red carpet, causing a brief scare.

Erivo swiftly intervened, stepping in to push the individual away from her co-star.

Grande was frightened when a man, Johnson Wen, rushed onto the red carpet and made contact with her. This caused Cynthia Erivo, who stars as Elphaba, to become angry and push Wen away from Grande, bypassing security. Wen has since been sentenced to nine days in jail for his actions.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande attended a private screening of their film in Los Angeles on Saturday. Erivo discussed how the movie offers viewers a sense of comfort and security, and briefly acknowledged a difficult incident that happened the previous week.

She explained that the past week, like much of the entire experience, was incredibly challenging. She honestly felt the process of making this movie had been profoundly impactful, helping them all develop as individuals, strengthen their friendships, and grow both creatively and professionally.

Wen, a social media prankster nicknamed Pyjama Man, bypassed security at Universal Studios and unexpectedly grabbed Ariana Grande, briefly hugging her as she tried to get free – until Cynthia Erivo quickly intervened.

Erivo quickly intervened, yelling at the intruder while stepping between him and Grande. Security guards then subdued the man and pulled him away.

Grande was left visibly shaken on the carpet.

Several hours later, Wen posted a disturbing selfie, looking wide-eyed and excited, while standing in front of an Ariana Grande poster. The caption read, ‘I finally got to meet Ariana Grande tonight!’

After testing positive for COVID-19, Ariana Grande had to cancel her scheduled appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Cynthia Erivo will now appear on the show by herself for their planned segment.

The singer will also be unable to attend several planned interviews and discussions about the movie in the next few days.

This isn’t the first time Covid has disrupted the Wicked experience for the pair.

Both stars previously tested positive at different points during filming of the first movie.

Cynthia Erivo became sick a few days before filming the powerful song ‘Defying Gravity,’ and Ariana Grande learned of her condition right before shooting ‘Popular.’
