Lisa Riley shared that she’s happily committed to her fiancé, Al, while appearing on ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ this week. However, she also stated that they don’t plan to get married.
The couple has always been very private, and the Emmerdale actor kept his partner out of the public eye for years. They weren’t seen together in public until 2019.
Lisa and Al have been together since 2014 and got engaged in 2018. Despite being engaged to the man she considers her soulmate, Lisa recently admitted to having a secret crush on television personality Ant McPartlin.
In a candid and revealing statement, the woman confessed she finds Ant McPartlin attractive, saying, ‘I’m a 49-year-old woman, and yes, I think he’s very handsome.’
It’s perfectly fine to just browse at Chanel, you don’t need to make a purchase. I’m in a very happy and committed relationship, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still enjoy looking at nice things.
As Lisa revealed her secret crush on Ant this week, who is the man who keeps her grounded?

Lisa met the ‘very talented and very, very lovely’ musician Al through friends in 2014.
He reportedly proposed in May 2018, and the actress excitedly announced the engagement on Twitter the following Monday, calling him ‘the love of her life’.
She shared a selfie showing off her new silver engagement ring, confirming the rumors that she’s engaged with the caption: ‘Yes, it’s true!’
‘I have got engaged… my soul mate and best mate and love of my life.
Meeting Al has been the greatest thing in my life. We’re incredibly happy together, and there are currently no wedding plans. We’re simply enjoying our relationship without any unnecessary complications – we’ve just strengthened our bond.
After keeping the reason secret for a long time, she recently shared the heartbreaking news that she and Al, her fiancé of over ten years, will never get married.
In an interview with The Mirror, the actress said she feels like she and her partner are already married and wouldn’t want to have a large wedding without their parents’ involvement.
The actress shared that her partner doesn’t have any parents, and they both prefer to spend the day surrounded by loved ones.

Okay, so she technically said they’re already married, but not officially married, which is just… perfect, honestly! And the best part? She absolutely needs her mum there for the actual wedding day – can you even imagine her going through all that without her mum?! She just wouldn’t put herself through it, and honestly, I totally get it. It has to be perfect, and mum is key! It just proves how much family means to her, and I’m living for it!
Al recently lost his mother and is now without parents. I’m grateful I still have my dad. We’ve been together for eleven years this June, and things are good, so there’s no need to change anything.
Lisa’s mother, Cath, died of cancer in 2012. In August 2022, Lisa shared that she wouldn’t be marrying Al, as both of their mothers are no longer alive.
She shared with The Mirror that they had both recently lost their mothers, and that weddings are often done to honor the wishes of others.
‘I’m never going to change my name, so really, what would be different?’
Lisa shared that she returned to work before she was ready, shortly after her fiancé Al’s mother passed away from cancer.
The actress initially felt she could continue working after her loss, but she later realized it wasn’t a good idea to go back to filming the ITV soap before the funeral.
Losing Al’s mother, whom she lovingly refers to as Nana, reminded her of the pain she felt when her own mother, Cathy, passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2012.
As someone who often talks about balancing life and well-being, I’ve learned a tough lesson recently. Losing my grandmother was incredibly difficult, and honestly, the grief is still very present. Looking back, I realize I jumped back into work far too soon. I should have taken more time to process everything and truly grieve. It’s a reminder that self-care, especially after a loss, isn’t selfish—it’s essential.
I really wanted to push through and film those scenes, and looking back, I understand now that it wasn’t the right decision to do so before the funeral. It took a lot of effort, but it was a mistake.
She described Al’s mother as like a ‘second mother’ to her and said they were incredibly close.
Reflecting on the difficult time, she told Woman’s Weekly magazine that shared hardship can bring people closer, and she felt grateful for the support of her loved ones.
Oh my gosh, before they even announced they were engaged, Lisa let it slip that she and her fiancé had been going through IVF! It’s just so sweet knowing they really wanted a family and were working so hard to make it happen. I’m seriously rooting for them!

Lisa, who went from a size 30 to under an 18, shared with YOU magazine that her first thought when meeting her surgeon for weight loss surgery wasn’t about her appearance, but whether she would still be able to have children.
‘I was worried that because my skin had been cut it would no longer stretch.’
‘I want to have IVF but I’m not going to put myself through a lot of stress if it doesn’t work.
I’m really starting to think about having a baby for a few reasons. I’ve worked hard to get healthy, and I’m also in a loving relationship with someone who also wants to be a parent.
‘I don’t just think about myself any more. If we were to have a child, that would be wonderful.’
However, she later told the hosts of Loose Women that she and Al had decided to separate after trying to make things work for seven months.
She shared that her partner was incredibly supportive while she explored something new for seven months. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t a good fit for her, and the results weren’t what she’d hoped for.
‘I am a woman with a fantastic partner and it’s OK to not have a child.
My friends are all building their own families, and I’m lucky enough to be a godmother to some of their children. It makes you reflect on whether you’ve achieved everything you wanted in life, but ultimately, I’m very happy and grateful for the life I have.
Before I knew Al was the one for her, Lisa used to talk about this… arrangement she had with her best friend, Darren. They pretended to date, which was awkward enough, but then she found out he was gay! It was a whole thing, and honestly, it felt like a really confusing chapter for her before she found real love.
Oh my gosh, back when she first started on Emmerdale, I was there! I mean, not with her exactly, but I followed all the reports – she talked about it in her autobiography in 2013, and it was amazing! She was going to all the premieres and parties, and I just lived for every little detail. It felt like I was right there with her, celebrating her success!
She started to feel like she wanted a real boyfriend, not just the pretend relationship she and her friend had fallen into. She knew they needed to stop having sex because he was a friend, and that wasn’t enough for a romantic relationship.
Let’s just say, after my friend’s breakup, her rebound didn’t exactly go as planned. She quickly started seeing someone who, unfortunately, ended up being sentenced to three and a half years in prison for fraud. It was a really tough situation for her, to say the least!

Unlucky in love, she went on to date a married man who was more than 10 years her senior in 2002.
The scandal came to light when his wife shared her story with a magazine, causing Lisa even more pain.
Lisa has generally kept her relationship with Al private, sharing only occasional photos from their vacations and making few public comments about it.
This week, she admitted to having a very strong attraction to ‘I’m a Celebrity’ host Ant McPartlin, describing him as ‘juicy’.
The Emmerdale actress joked that while Declan Donnelly would take care of viewers, Ant McPartlin would ensure they had a good time.
During a campfire conversation, rapper Aitch, 25, playfully asked Lisa which of two options tasted better. Lisa enthusiastically responded, ‘Definitely Ant! Oh my god, Ant is so juicy!’
She joked that Dec would be the more caring one, imagining him tucking their child in at night, while Ant would likely just wish them a good night, causing her campmates to laugh.
