Pokémon TCG reveals Ascended Heroes as the first set for 2026

Here comes Mega Dragonite!

I’m so excited! The latest Pokémon TCG set, Ascended Heroes, is coming out on January 30th! It’s the newest part of the Mega Evolution series and the first big release for 2026. I can’t wait to start collecting!

This new Pokémon card set will feature 13 Pokémon that can Mega Evolve, six Pokémon with the special Tera form, and a variety of Trainer cards. A highlight of the set is Mega Dragonite ex – previously shown at the 2025 Pokémon World Championships – which will be available for the first time in this card game release.

The Ascended Heroes Pokémon set goes beyond just Mega Evolution and Tera cards. It includes 30 Trainer cards and a minimum of 30 cards with special artwork, making for a total of over 290 cards in the entire set.

All Ascended Heroes cards so far

When the news was released, only four cards from the Ascended Heroes set had been officially revealed. We’ve also gotten an early look at Mega Dragonite ex, and it will probably have the same design and wording when it’s fully released.

These four cards are:

  • Mega Charizard Y ex
  • Mega Gengar ex
  • Entei
  • N’s Vanilluxe

The Ascended Heroes Pokémon set is inspired by the Japanese MEGA Dream ex set, and it will be released much sooner – on November 28, 2025 – than the version available in English.

Pokémon TCG: Ascended Heroes products

The Ascended Heroes set won’t be sold in individual booster packs or boxes. If you want to collect all the cards from this set, you’ll need to buy one of the available product bundles.

ProductRelease DateContent

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is expected to reveal more products from the Ascended Heroes collection in 2026. These releases will be spaced out over the first six months of the year and coordinated with upcoming sets featuring Mega Evolution Pokémon.

In addition to the new Mega Pokémon cards, it will be exciting to see how the latest set impacts Tera Pokémon strategies. As the current Tera cards from the Scarlet and Violet era are phased out, these new cards are likely to significantly change the competitive landscape in 2026.
