Okay, so I have to share this – it’s totally charming! Jeff Goldblum was on Capital Breakfast radio, and he revealed something really funny he has in common with Kim Kardashian. Apparently, they both collect vintage cars! It’s such a quirky and unexpected connection, and he shared it with a lot of humor. It just goes to show you never know what surprising things people are into!
The 73-year-old actor had everyone laughing on the show when he confessed he’d never heard of a jacket potato, mirroring a similar admission made recently by the 45-year-old socialite.
The actor from Wicked appeared on the radio with hosts Jordan North, Chris Stark, and Sian Welby to talk about his upcoming movie, Wicked: For Good.
‘Do you know what a jacket potato is?,’ Chris asked teasing the actor.
Jeff seemed confused and responded, “A jacket…like a potato in a jacket? A jacket potato? No, I’ve never heard of that.”
I’ve never heard that phrase before. Is it common knowledge in England?
Chris jokingly observed that while everyone here seems to be aware of something, that understanding isn’t reaching people in Hollywood.
Jeff explained that a lot of things aren’t available here, and Sian agreed, saying it was disappointing.
He joked he could be the ‘messenger’ between the UK and U.S.
He acknowledged it was unfortunate and upsetting, jokingly lamenting their lack of resources. Then, attempting to guess something, he repeatedly said “Jacket potato” before admitting he didn’t know and asking what a jacket potato even was.
Jordan immediately drew a parallel to Kim Kardashian, stating, ‘Actually, Kim Kardashian was also unaware. Here, let me tell you about it.’
They then played a recording of a recent interview with Kim and actress Sarah Paulson. The interview was from the Capital Breakfast show with Grime Gran, also known as 81-year-old influencer Margie Keefe.
The host asked: ‘You’re a big fan of a jacket potato, ain’t you?’, to which Kim replied: ‘Who?’
Grime asked Kim if she liked baked potatoes, but she seemed confused and asked what he meant.
Fifty-year-old Sarah, known for her role in American Horror Story, was curious if I enjoyed jacket potatoes.
Kim responded, ‘I’m not familiar with that,’ prompting the host to exclaim in disbelief, ‘You’ve never heard of a baked potato?’
I was so excited when I heard Grime describe it – a potato cooked right in its skin! And Kim totally got it, she was just as thrilled, saying she absolutely loved the idea.
After playing the recording, Jeff and the presenters were left in stitches in the studio.
“Oh, that’s right, of course! A jacket potato—a potato baked with its skin on!” the actor said with a laugh.
I’m no expert, but I’ve read that potato skins are actually quite nutritious. Personally, I enjoy a good baked potato – that’s what we call them where I’m from.
