Near-perfect drama hailed as ‘one of the best films of the year’ has just landed on Netflix

The highly praised drama Train Dreams, featuring Joel Edgerton and Felicity Jones, is now available on Netflix. Vulture called it “one of the best films of the year,” so it’s definitely worth watching.

I just watched this movie, and it’s amazing! It’s based on a story by Denis Johnson, and Joel Edgerton plays Robert Grainier, a guy who works with wood and on the railroads. The film really shows how much America was changing at the beginning of the 1900s through his eyes.

The new film, directed by Clint Bentley and co-written by Bentley and Greg Kwedar, is now streaming on Netflix in the UK. It was added to the platform this morning.

Alongside the acclaimed performances of Edgerton and Jones, Train Dreams also stars Kerry Condon, Clifton Collins Jr., Will Patton, and William H. Macy.

Since its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Train Dreams has received widespread critical praise, currently holding a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 133 reviews.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the film stays true to the core of Johnson’s story, but it’s also visually stunning, often beautifully capturing the nostalgic feeling of a lost America that Johnson explores.

According to The New York Times, Denis Johnson’s Train Dreams implies that we only truly begin to understand the course of our lives as we approach the end, and even then, our understanding remains incomplete.

According to Rolling Stone, Joel Edgerton is so convincing in this role that, almost immediately, you’ll feel like no other actor could have played the part.

IndieWire also highly praised the film, noting that it’s a moving story about appreciating every moment, while also acknowledging how fleeting and fragile those moments can be.

According to The Daily Telegraph, director Clint Bentley and co-writer Greg Kwedar beautifully portray the simple life of Grainier as the 20th century changed things, without exaggerating the story’s emotional or harsh elements.

Train Dreams is streaming now on Netflix.
