As a longtime fan, it breaks my heart to hear that Lily Allen’s daughters are going through the same difficult time she experienced when her marriage to David Harbour fell apart. It’s just awful that they’re all dealing with this pain, and I’m sending them all my support.
The 40-year-old singer surprised her fans last month with her new album, West End Girl. The album openly shares details about her four-year marriage to 50-year-old David, the actor from Stranger Things, whom she met on the Raya dating app.
Lily recently spoke about her daughters, 13-year-old Ethel and 12-year-old Marnie, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Sam Cooper, a builder. It’s unusual for her to discuss her children publicly.
In an interview on CBS Mornings, singer Lily Allen shared that her daughters are doing well, but also revealed they’ve been affected by her difficult past year, experiencing the pain alongside her.
Lily said she’d dedicate the album to her daughters, explaining that they’ve been through a lot of hardship and she wanted to acknowledge that.
I really wanted to demonstrate to my children that even difficult experiences can be used to create something positive, and I believe I’ve succeeded in doing that.

Lily shared that her teenage daughters are thrilled to be joining her on tour next year, as they’ve never had the chance to see her perform in a big venue before.
I’m so excited for her! She told me she’s carefully planning everything around her kids’ school breaks so they and their friends can come along on tour with her. She’s really looking forward to sharing the experience with them, and it just warms my heart to hear that family is so important to her.
My children have never had the chance to see me perform live. They’re now teenagers – almost 13 and 14 – and the last time I toured was back in 2018, when they were much younger.
People don’t recall seeing me perform live, and they definitely didn’t experience the beginning of my career.
It’s all completely new for them, and I’m thrilled! We’re working our tour dates around their vacation so they can travel with us and even bring friends. Honestly, just thinking about it gets me emotional because they’re so happy, and so am I.
‘I can’t wait to have them there and it is as much for them as it is for me.’
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of her first album, Alright, Still, the artist will be performing her hit song, “West End Girl,” in its entirety during the tour.
Lily will be performing at arenas in London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Nottingham. She’s also scheduled for appearances on Saturday Night Live in December and at the Mighty Hoopla festival in London next May.

Just a quick peek from the set of ‘Evil Genius’ – I saw David grabbing a coffee while they were filming on location in New Jersey. Seems like even geniuses need their caffeine fix! It’s always fun to see how things come together behind the scenes, and everyone was looking focused and ready to go.
The actor, originally from New York, looked dramatically different while heading to set to film a new thriller directed by Courtney Cox, known for her role on Friends.
David used padding to make himself look bigger and also wore a gray wig, beard, and dark-rimmed glasses.
Last month, singer Lily surprised her fans with her new song, “West End Girl.” The song bravely details problems in her marriage, including finding out about her husband’s secret hideaway and his affair with someone named Madeline.
The album begins with a painful confession from Lily: David had suggested they try an open relationship, but with certain rules.
She reveals David’s inappropriate behavior and rule-breaking, along with intimate and disturbing details about his affair and relationship. This includes discovering a large number of sex toys and condoms at a place he referred to with a vulgar nickname.
Although the celebrity often shares details openly, she also uses suggestive language. For example, in her song “Madeline,” she implies involvement with prostitution, mentioning that a man named David could see other women ‘if they paid him’.
Throughout the album, Madeline is a recurring figure. Lily seems to be identifying the woman David was having an affair with and shares a conversation where she tries to figure out if he was emotionally involved, not just physically.
“West End Girl” is her first new song in seven years. She recorded it quickly, in just 10 days, shortly after ending her relationship with the actor from Stranger Things. The split happened in December after Lily found out he’d been having a three-year affair and was unfaithful multiple times.

Fans are loving the new album, connecting with the artist’s vulnerability and appreciating her clever and funny reflections on difficult times.
In an interview with CBS’ Anthony Mason, she expressed being ‘overwhelmed and massively grateful’ for the positive reaction to her album.
Lily Allen, who first became famous on MySpace with her 2006 album Alright, Still, noted that the reaction to her song West End Girl has been very similar – largely happening online.
She explained that her first album and initial success came from the social media platform MySpace, a period she feels can’t be replicated. She hadn’t experienced a similar feeling until recently, noting that things are starting to feel comparable again.
It’s strange because this is all happening online. I haven’t encountered the songs in public places, like stores, or heard anyone singing along, which is unusual. It’s been a really positive experience, but also a bit overwhelming and over-the-top.
She said she’s thrilled when her music resonates with others. She explained that she writes songs primarily for her own well-being, so it’s incredibly rewarding and validating when people connect with them.
At that point in my life, I wasn’t receiving the encouragement or approval I needed.
It feels good knowing people are hearing this album and recognizing how difficult and upsetting the experiences it describes are, and understanding how hard it must have been to go through them.
