Before the second season of Percy Jackson arrives, Disney+ has given the show a slightly more mature rating. The first season, which premiered almost two years ago and starred Walker Scobell alongside a talented cast – including more than six gods and mythical creatures – quickly became one of Disney+’s biggest hits. Now, a recent update suggests the show might be even better this time around.
Disney+’s Percy Jackson Season 2 has been given a TV-PG-V rating, meaning it contains more violence than the first season, which was simply rated TV-PG. The ‘V’ indicates viewers can expect more intense action, fights, and battles. However, the show is still aimed at the same general age group as Season 1.
Now that Percy Jackson and his friends are growing up, the show’s new rating feels right, given the more intense challenges they’ll likely face in Season 2. Disney hasn’t shared details yet about what specific content led to this rating, though.
The second season of Percy Jackson will continue the story based on Rick Riordan’s popular book series. Starring Walker Scobell, Aryan Simhadri, and Leah Sava Jeffries, the new season follows the events of The Sea of Monsters, where Percy and his friends embark on a dangerous journey to the Bermuda Triangle. They’re on a mission to find a special item that can protect Camp Half-Blood from a monster invasion. You can start streaming Percy Jackson Season 2 on Disney+ beginning Wednesday, December 10.
How New Rating Will Help Percy Jackson Season 2

With Sea of Monsters, the characters – Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood – are growing up, and the story reflects that increased maturity. Though initial trailers didn’t show much intense action, the film’s new rating suggests we can expect more elaborate fight scenes and a bit more graphic content.
More than six villains have been confirmed for the second season, and they’re all expected to use their full abilities when battling the main character, who is a demigod.
I’m so excited for the new season! We’re getting some familiar faces back like Adam Copeland as Ares and Charlie Bushell as Luke, but things are about to get really intense. Timothy Simons is joining us as Tantalus, who’s basically a king cursed with endless hunger and now he’s in charge of activities at Camp Half-Blood – that can’t be good! And to make things even more complicated, Aleks Paunovic is playing Polyphemus, another one of Poseidon’s kids and Percy’s half-brother. He actually captures Grover, and he’s shaping up to be a huge danger for Percy and his friends. It’s going to be a wild ride!
As a huge fan, I think leaning into more action and even some violence is a great move for the show. It really captures the feel of Rick Riordan’s books, especially as the characters develop and face bigger threats. Honestly, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what scenes earned the show its rating – it sounds like Camp Half-Blood is in for some serious trouble, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
