Be warned: this contains spoilers for the season finale of Law & Order Season 25, titled “Parasite.” You can stream the episode the day after it airs with a Peacock subscription.
So, Season 25 of Law & Order has finished airing for 2025, and I really enjoyed seeing David Ajala as Detective Theo Walker working with Reid Scott’s Detective Vince Riley. The episode “Parasite” was a bit different – it ended without us actually seeing a verdict, which was unusual. I honestly thought when the show came back in 2026, it would continue right from that cliffhanger. But the promo threw me for a loop! It turns out we’re getting a two-part crossover with Law & Order: SVU, and it’s starting to become clear who’s going to be involved – one familiar face is almost definitely coming back for it.
The preview doesn’t reveal much, but it confirms the upcoming event will be a full two-hour crossover, not just characters from Law & Order making a quick appearance on SVU, or the other way around. I’m particularly intrigued by the scene showing Price breaking down a door with Maroun – it’s unusual to see assistant district attorneys involved in field work like that. Check it out:
The promo starts with Ice-T as Fin from SVU, but the clip was fairly standard. Considering fans haven’t seen much of him since his injuries at the beginning of Season 27, I wasn’t completely sure he’d appear in the upcoming two-part episode. However, the footage did help explain something Ice-T recently shared on social media.
As a big Law & Order fan, I was happy to hear that Ice-T confirmed he’s still right up there with Mariska Hargitay as a key player on the show – he’s number two, and always a welcome sight when Fin Tutuola appears! He even shared a picture with some fellow Law & Order actors, which pretty much confirms that we’ll definitely be seeing Fin in any potential crossovers. It’s great news for fans like me!

Last week, when I saw Ice-T’s photo, I thought Fin was making a quick appearance on Law & Order, maybe to help Riley and Walker with a case. Actors like Hugh Dancy and Tony Goldwyn (as DA Nick Baxter) have occasionally appeared on SVU, so I figured Law & Order was returning the favor. But now, after watching the season finale, it seems like Fin isn’t just making a cameo – he’s coming back for a full crossover event. David Ajala also shared a photo hinting at this.

It’s interesting that the newest detective on Law & Order will be working alongside a character who’s been with the show for a long time. However, it’s still unclear how much screen time Ice-T, David Ajala, and Reid Scott will share. The crossover event doesn’t air until January 8th, so there’s plenty of time to guess what brings everyone together. Law & Order will start the two-part story at its usual 8 p.m. Eastern time, and SVU will finish it up.
I’m excited to see Walker and Fin team up, and I’m also curious about the dynamic between Benson and Brady (Maura Tierney) in future episodes. They worked well together during the last crossover, even though they didn’t always see eye-to-eye. While we wait for the shows to return after the winter break, you can rewatch past episodes on Peacock.
