Friends fans can finally watch unaired spinoff episodes as they’re released after 19 years

Good news for Friends fans! Some episodes of the show’s spin-off, Joey, that were never originally aired are now available to stream for free.

The popular TV show ended in 2004 with a memorable scene featuring the keys to Monica’s apartment. Shortly after, a spin-off series about Joey Tribbiani – the charming actor played by Matt LeBlanc – premiered, but it only lasted for two seasons.

Man, it’s a bummer, but the show got cancelled after the ratings dropped. Because of that, the last eight episodes of season two never even aired here in the US. I was really looking forward to seeing how it ended!

What to Read Next

All episodes of the show, including the previously unaired eight, are now available to watch for free on the Friends YouTube channel.

The show begins a while after the end of Friends, with Joey now in Hollywood trying to become a successful actor.

Joey is close to a colorful group of people, including his hairdresser sister, Gina (Drea de Matteo), and his incredibly smart nephew, Michael (Paulo Costanzo).

I love seeing Joey’s relationships with the people around him! There’s Alex Garrett, the lawyer who’s also his love interest – Andrea Anders is fantastic in that role. And then there’s Bobbie Morgenstern, his agent, played by the hilarious Jennifer Coolidge. They both really add a lot to the show!

Similar to Friends, Joey was broadcast on NBC in the United States. In December 2005, the network removed it from its regular Thursday night timeslot, and later aired a single episode on a Tuesday in March.

The last eight episodes of the show weren’t shown on US television, but they were broadcast on networks in other countries. These episodes, marked as “never aired”, are now available to watch on YouTube for US viewers.

Jennifer Aniston, known for her role as Rachel Green on Friends, recently discussed the possibility of another sequel, following a reunion special in 2021. Sadly, Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, passed away in 2023.

As a huge Friends fan, I was really hoping to see the cast back together somehow, but Jennifer Aniston just said a sequel is completely off the table. Sadly, with Matthew Perry’s passing, she explained to Harper’s Bazaar that it’s just not possible, and honestly, I get it. It wouldn’t be the same without him.

All 46 episodes of Joey are available to watch on YouTube for viewers based in the US.

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can find Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
