Lainey Wilson is having an incredible moment in her career. She’s won the Country Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year award four times, and recently dominated the CMAs as both host, performer, and winner. It’s clear she’s exceptionally talented and knows exactly how to succeed.
She also recognizes two important truths. First, career success – or even setbacks – isn’t solely due to individual effort. Many people contribute along the way, and Wilson couldn’t have achieved her level of success without help. Like all accomplished people, she’s benefited from the support of others.
She recognizes many talented women are working in country music today. The problem is that these women often don’t receive the recognition they deserve, as the industry often prioritizes male artists.
Lainey Wilson sets the record straight about women working in country music
Lainey Wilson deservedly won Entertainer of the Year in 2025, beating out male competitors Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, and Morgan Wallen. While Morgan Wallen’s albums consistently reached the top of the Billboard charts, that success doesn’t diminish the quality of Wilson’s music.
While accepting her award, Wilson spoke frankly to fans, pointing out that female artists don’t always receive the appreciation they deserve. She didn’t hold back at all.
I’m incredibly honored to be nominated alongside these amazing women. People like Miranda Lambert have generously shared their wisdom with me, and I owe a lot of my success to their guidance. To anyone at home trying to create drama and tear women down, please find a more productive way to spend your time.
Recent online chatter suggested a complicated relationship between Ella Langley, Megan Moroney, and Riley Green, fueled by rumors of a love triangle. However, this drama, largely spread by social media users, has been proven untrue.
It’s disheartening that many online critics seem to target female artists. This clear gender bias is unfortunate. Talent should be recognized regardless of gender, and artists like Lainey Wilson, along with fellow nominees Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Megan Moroney, and Ashley McBryde, are incredibly gifted and deserve the same appreciation as their male counterparts.
