The HBO comedy series, I Love LA, is coming back for another season. Created by and starring Rachel Sennott, the show follows a group of friends reconnecting in Los Angeles. Early reviews have been very positive, with the series currently holding an 84% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite mixed reactions from viewers – with a Popcornmeter score of just 47% – the show continues to attract a large and growing audience. While many user reviews are negative, it hasn’t stopped people from tuning in.
HBO has given the green light for a second season of I Love LA. The renewal comes early in the first season, after only three episodes have aired. The remaining five episodes of season one will premiere on Sundays, concluding on December 21st.
The show I Love LA is performing very well, becoming the second most popular first-season comedy series for HBO ever. It’s averaging almost 2 million viewers across all platforms in the U.S., which is why this news is exciting.
Here’s a statement from Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming and Head of HBO & HBO Max Comedy Series, regarding the renewal of Tim Robinson’s show, The Chair Company.
As a huge fan of comedy, I’m absolutely loving the buzz around The Chair Company and I Love LA! Both shows feel like they’re carrying the torch for HBO’s great comedic legacy, but they’re doing it in such unique and fresh ways. I’m really excited to see Tim, Zach Kanin, Rachel, and their teams keep creating – they’re clearly doing something special, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
We haven’t heard yet if the main actors and crew will be back for season 2, and details about the new season are still secret. But with more than half of season 1 still to air, that’s not surprising – there’s plenty of story left to tell before the season finale.
Rachel Sennot is almost certainly returning to the show. As its star, creator, and executive producer – working with Lorene Scafaria, Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers, and Max Silvestri – her continued involvement is highly expected.
