While her former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City co-stars enjoyed themselves at BravoCon in Las Vegas, Jen Shah was doing chores while incarcerated.
A 52-year-old woman convicted of fraud was photographed this week carrying a box of trash with another inmate at the federal prison camp in Texas where she is serving her sentence for conspiring to commit wire fraud.
Even though she had to take out the trash, the dishonest telemarketer still made an effort to look glamorous, adorning herself with jewelry.
Inspired by the style of The Bling Ring, Shah wore glittering earrings, her wedding ring, and a watch provided by the prison.
She pulled her brown hair back into a neat bun and added a pair of fashionable sunglasses to finish the look.

The low-security prison currently houses several well-known inmates, such as Ghislaine Maxwell, who was associated with Jeffrey Epstein, and Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the failed company Theranos.
In February 2023, Shah started serving a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence after admitting to wire fraud. She was involved in a large-scale scheme that defrauded thousands of people, many of whom were elderly.
She was also ordered to pay more than $6.5 million in restitution.
Her arrest in March 2021 became a well-known moment from season two of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, making her a memorable figure in the show’s history.
Shah originally maintained her innocence, repeatedly denying any wrongdoing even in later appearances. However, she eventually pleaded guilty in July 2022, several months after her former assistant, Stuart Smith, confessed to his involvement.
Since entering prison, her sentence has been reduced multiple times.
Originally planned for release in 2029, the release date has been moved forward several times. It was first changed to August 2028, then December 2027, and now, according to Page Six, it’s set for November 3, 2026.
Jen Shah’s team is sharing updates through her online blog, ‘Dear Jen Shah,’ saying she’s focusing on self-improvement and getting help.

I’m happy to share that she’s really thriving! She’s been keeping herself incredibly busy with lots of creative endeavors, and even organized some lovely holiday-themed events inside the prison to bring some cheer to everyone.
Shah has also remained in contact with her RHOSLC castmates.
Also that month, her team verified she’d recently talked with Meredith Marks, and described the conversation as very good.
Surprisingly, Shah has become friends with Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos, who is in prison for 11 years due to fraud.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following Jen Shah’s journey, and even after everything – losing her place on Bravo and now being in federal prison – she’s really focused on personal growth. It’s clear she’s using this time in Texas to work on herself and make positive changes, which is admirable.

Last year, Shah wrote an essay for People magazine detailing the lessons she’s learned while in prison.
‘Upon entering FPC Bryan, I wholeheartedly believed that no one was suffering as badly as I was,’ she wrote.
She explained that she soon realized many of the women around her were facing challenges much greater than her own. She found their strength incredibly inspiring and said it made her feel humble.
Throughout her journey as an entrepreneur, she has remained deeply committed to her Muslim faith. She believes that God’s blessings have sustained her even during difficult and uncertain times, and she finds that expressing thankfulness is the most helpful way to deal with challenges.
Honestly, it’s a constant battle with sadness and feeling down – they’re always trying to take over my thoughts. But you know what really helps? My daily prayers, five times a day, they’re like… a shield. They keep those dark feelings from completely overwhelming me. I’m so incredibly thankful for two things that have always been there for me: my family and my faith. Seriously, thank God for those two things. They’re everything.
