Researchers’ Perspectives on AI in Manufacturing and Materials Science’-investigates how AI and machine learning are currently impacting innovation through interviews with U.S.-based researchers in manufacturing and materials science. Findings reveal that AI/ML tools primarily augment existing research methods, enhancing efficiency and exploration within established parameters, but do not yet consistently drive disruptive theoretical breakthroughs.
