I’m excited to see Robert Pattinson continue to develop as Batman, particularly with a more laid-back portrayal of Bruce Wayne, and I’m really hoping to see the Bat-Family come to life in the upcoming film, The Brave and the Bold. But since both of those movies are still a few years off, the animated Batman movie coming out in 2025 really grabbed my attention, and I was particularly surprised by how truly villainous the character of Two-Face was portrayed.

DC has released a new Batman movie called Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires, which offers a fresh take on the classic story. It blends familiar Batman characters and themes with Aztec culture, creating a unique and exciting adaptation. This movie doesn’t follow Bruce Wayne; instead, it centers on the character Yohualli Coatl, making it a must-see for Batman enthusiasts.

The animated film Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires premiered in Mexican cinemas on September 18th. It became available to rent digitally in the United States on September 19th. Worldwide, excluding the US for now, Aztec Batman started streaming on HBO Max on November 7th. The film is gaining popularity and reached the #2 spot in Mexico’s trending charts upon release.

How Aztec Batman: Clash Of Empires’ Two-Face Is The Villain At His Deadliest

Two-Face, voiced by Álvaro Morte—known for his role in Money Heist, is portrayed as Hernán Cortés, a Spanish conquistador. In the film, he travels through the Aztec empire, destroying any village that resists him and compelling others to guide him to the capital city, Tenochtitlán. Two-Face and his forces kill numerous Aztecs, including Batman’s father.

This version of Two-Face creates a strong personal link with Batman, truly establishing him as the hero’s greatest enemy. It’s a new approach to the villain – traditionally, the Joker fills that role, often connected to Bruce Wayne’s parents through the character of Joe Chill. This Two-Face, created by Morte, is portrayed as truly malicious, cunning, and a dangerous combatant.

This version of Two-Face, appearing in the animated film Aztec Batman, is considered the most dangerous incarnation of the villain because he’s responsible for the near-total destruction of a civilization.
