Daniel Radcliffe sent a heartwarming letter offering his support to the young actor taking on the role of Harry Potter in the new television series, effectively passing the baton to him.
As someone who’s seen a lot of young talent blossom, it warmed my heart to see the actor – you probably know him from the Harry Potter films – sending good wishes to Dominic McLaughlin, an exciting new face joining the cast of the upcoming HBO series. He simply wished Dominic ‘the best time,’ and honestly, that’s the perfect advice for anyone starting out in this industry. It’s all about enjoying the journey!
Daniel stated on Good Morning America that he doesn’t think any actor taking on the role of Harry needs to contact him beforehand.
I’m connected to some of the people involved in the production, so I reached out to Dominic with a letter. He kindly wrote back to me.
I simply wanted to wish him well and say I hope he enjoys himself even more than I did – I had a wonderful time, but I truly hope his experience is even better.

The actor from ‘The Woman in Black’ explained he didn’t want to overshadow the new generation of performers, but he did want to express his good wishes to the person taking over his role.
Dominic will play Harry, Arabella Stanton will be Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley.
Daniel, like Harry Potter, was eleven years old when he started filming the first movie, and thinking back on it now, he felt a sense of nostalgia about how young he was.
He said: ‘I just see these pictures of him and the other kids and I just want to hug them.
It’s amazing to see them so young and carefree. It reminds me of when I was their age, and it’s really sweet. I just hope they’re enjoying themselves.
Many fans were hoping to see original cast members like Rupert Grint (Ron) and Emma Watson (Hermione) make a brief appearance in the new series, but the actor confirmed that won’t happen.
He explained to ComicBook.com that the creators are aiming for a completely new beginning with the project. He believes they’ll want to establish their own vision and likely won’t be interested in finding a way to include a cameo from the previous actor who played the character.
‘So I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way.’

Oh my gosh, Daniel Radcliffe actually said he hopes the team does a good job bringing Harry Potter to a whole new generation! I mean, it just means the world to me that he wants them to succeed. It’s like, his blessing, you know? I’m seriously so excited and hopeful now that he’s shown his support!
I definitely wish them the best and I’m happy to see them take over. However, I don’t think a formal handover from me is necessary.
Warwick Davis, age 55, will be back for another season, once again playing the beloved charms professor, Filius Flitwick.
He wrote on Instagram: ‘Hogwarts has always held a very special place in my heart.
I never could have predicted, when I first put on Professor Flitwick’s robes so long ago, how much this character – and the magical world around them – would change my life.
Thank you to all our amazing fans for continuing to support the wizarding world – I’m so excited to welcome you back to Hogwarts for more adventures!
I’m so thrilled to see Tom Felton back as Draco Malfoy! He’s absolutely fantastic in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ on Broadway – it’s amazing to watch him reprise such an iconic role. At 38, he really brings a new depth to the character.
I’m so excited to share that filming has officially begun! We got our first glimpse of Dominic in costume as the wizard – it really brought the character to life and signaled the start of a magical journey. It’s going to be amazing!

On the movie set, the new young actor strongly resembled Daniel Radcliffe as he first appeared in the role back in 2001.
Each episode of the new HBO show reportedly costs $100 million to produce. The three young actors starring in the show are predicted to earn even more money than the actors from the original series.
J.K. Rowling, now 59 years old, first published “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” in 1997. She then released “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” in 1998.
Four more titles in the beloved series were published by the popular author between 2000 and 2007.
She shared her excitement on X about the first two episodes, explaining that although she didn’t write them, she collaborated closely with the writing team.
She shared that she’s seen the first two episodes of the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series and thought they were fantastic!
HBO plans to adapt each of the seven books in the series as a single season of television.
Production on the upcoming fantasy series started this summer and will premiere on HBO and HBO Max in 2027.
