It’s been a really challenging year for Christian Horner, especially after leaving his role as team principal at Red Bull in Formula One back in July. But honestly, despite everything, I was happy to see him with a smile on his face – he deserves a bit of good news after all that drama.
The 52-year-old former race car driver appeared happy and relaxed while celebrating his birthday with his wife, Geri Halliwell, on Sunday.
The Spice Girls singer presented her husband with a white cake adorned with multi-coloured candles.
Christian shared the photo online and wrote: ‘Thanks for all the birthday wishes’.
In July, Christian stepped down from his role leading the Red Bull Formula One team, bringing an end to the longest tenure of any team principal in the sport’s history.
This happened a year after a scandal broke regarding text messages he reportedly sent to a coworker.
Red Bull announced that Christian Horner is stepping down from his day-to-day responsibilities with the team, effective today, July 9, 2025. Laurent Mekies has been named the new CEO of Red Bull Racing.
His leaving signals the end of a highly successful career with the Milton Keynes team, where they won eight Drivers’ Championships and six Constructors’ Championships. This success came in two phases, initially with Sebastian Vettel and later with Max Verstappen.
He led the Red Bull Formula One team from its very beginning in 2005, and singer Geri Halliwell was frequently seen with him at races globally.
He was summarily relieved of the role following the British Grand Prix.
Christian wasn’t told why he was fired, but it seems he lost his job because of a conflict between people in charge.
I was so impressed by Geri standing by Christian when those shocking accusations came out last year in Formula One. He’s strongly denied everything, and I truly believe him.
The day after an external investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing, screenshots claiming to be WhatsApp messages between Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner and a team employee were leaked online anonymously.
Despite claims that he pressured a coworker, he was found to have done nothing wrong after two internal reviews.
Geri celebrated her 53rd birthday in August.
Christian posted a glowing photo of his wife on Instagram, showing her happily posing with her birthday cake.
Christian celebrated his wife’s birthday with a sweet social media post, tagging her and calling her ‘amazing.’ He shares a seven-year-old son, Monty, with his wife, and they are also parents to children from previous relationships.
