You know, I was reading that a really famous actor who used to be huge as James Bond has been hinting he might come back – but as a retired 007! It probably won’t happen, especially with Amazon planning a whole new take on Bond, but he’s definitely interested in working with Denis Villeneuve on something else. Apparently, he’d love to be part of whatever Villeneuve is cooking up, even if it’s not as Bond himself.

I was reading a recent interview with Pierce Brosnan in GQ, and he admitted he does sometimes daydream about slipping back into the Bond suit, imagining an older, more seasoned 007. It’s something fans have definitely wanted to see, and honestly, I can’t blame him for entertaining the thought. But ultimately, he feels like the role now belongs to someone else, which is probably a good thing. Still, he would be open to returning to the Bond universe in a different capacity, which I think is a smart move and could be really exciting.

People naturally wonder if I’d be interested in playing Bond, but that role belongs to someone else. Still, the idea of being involved in those films and entertaining an audience is appealing, so I’m curious to see how things develop. I believe everything is constantly shifting and changing, so it’s best to relax and enjoy the ride.

Amazon’s James Bond Reboot Could Be Filled With Cameos & Easter Eggs

It’s highly unlikely Pierce Brosnan will reprise his role as James Bond, though many would love to see him play a similar character – perhaps even the lead in a “King of Spies” adaptation. While Amazon considered bringing Sean Connery back for a cameo in Skyfall (a plan that ultimately didn’t happen), these kinds of fan-pleasing appearances feel very much like Amazon’s style, hinting at larger, Marvel-style plans for the future of James Bond.

Pierce Brosnan, who famously played James Bond starting with the highly-rated GoldenEye in 1995 and continuing through films like Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day (the last Bond film before the series was rebooted with Daniel Craig), is still a popular choice for many fans. Because of this, his opinion is highly respected. He believes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, a former co-star and a long-time favorite among those who bet on these things, is the best actor to take on the role in Amazon’s upcoming Bond films.

One of our first films was called ‘The Greatest,’ and he truly lived up to the name in it. I recently saw the news about him potentially playing James Bond, and I think he’d be fantastic in the role.

While fans wait for news about the next James Bond film, Pierce Brosnan has a full schedule. He recently appeared in the Netflix mystery The Thursday Murder Club and will soon be in the boxing movie Giant. He’s also set to remake the action film Cliffhanger, and will reprise his role alongside Tom Hardy in season two of the popular Paramount crime drama, MobLand.
