This week, Tom Felton received support from Jason Isaacs, who played his father in the Harry Potter films, while performing in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” on Broadway.
The 38-year-old actor recently returned to his famous role as Draco Malfoy, fifteen years after the Harry Potter films ended. He made his first appearance in the role on stage at New York’s Lyric Theatre last week, and the performance was very moving.
Jason, age 62, famously played Lucius Malfoy, Draco’s father, in the Harry Potter films. He recently shared how thrilled he is to see the actor who played his onscreen son reprise the role.
Jason, known for his role in The White Lotus, posted photos of himself hugging Tom on stage and meeting Aidan Close, the young actor who plays Scorpius Malfoy – Draco Malfoy’s son – in the stage play.
Jason wrote in a post, ‘I arrived, I observed, and he triumphed. You faced immense pressure, my son, and you exceeded all expectations. You were incredibly courageous and made me so proud to witness your success.’
Tom shared sweet photos of a special family moment – the first time three generations of the Malfoy family (from the Harry Potter series) met on stage. He described it as magical and expressed his love for both his father, Jason Isaacs, and his son, Aidan Mclose.

This popular show is based on a new story created by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany. It takes place 19 years after the original books and movies ended, and centers on Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as they navigate sending their children to Hogwarts.
The show first opened in London’s West End in 2016 and went on to win an unprecedented nine Laurence Olivier Awards in 2017. The following year, the Broadway version received six Tony Awards.
Tom recently made his first appearance on Broadway, and he was deeply moved during the applause at the end of last week’s performance.
Even though some people questioned his choice to play the part again, Tom was greeted with such enthusiastic applause when he appeared on stage that it was difficult to hear what he said.
Tom has stayed supportive of the Harry Potter series and JK Rowling, even though many of his fellow actors have tried to separate themselves from the franchise.
When directly asked if the debate surrounding J.K. Rowling’s positions on transgender rights influenced his choice to appear in the play, Tom recently stated that it hadn’t, and he wasn’t particularly aware of the issue.
He added that he always reminds himself how fortunate he’s been to travel the world.

I’m in New York, and I’ve realized nothing has united people quite like J.K. Rowling and the Harry Potter series. I’m deeply thankful for what she’s created.
Tom’s comments were his latest public show of support towards Rowling.
The actor remains a supporter of the Harry Potter franchise, regularly appearing at fan conventions and events. He recently shared his reasons for doing so in an interview with The Times.
To be honest, I can’t speak to what anyone else has said, but I often think about how much joy she’s brought to people of all ages and backgrounds, especially when I’m at Comic Cons. It’s clear no one has done more to make so many people happy.
Even after just a few meetings, I’ve been consistently impressed by her positive attitude and contributions. I really appreciate the kindness she’s always shown.

Tom, who remains friendly with his former co-stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, explained that he prefers to stay neutral and avoid taking sides.
I don’t want to get into details, but I often think about how my close friends and I don’t always share the same beliefs or make the same choices. And I think that’s something to be celebrated – we should appreciate what makes each of us unique.
Jason acknowledged he disagreed with the author on some things, but he promised to remain supportive and not betray her trust. He specifically praised her charitable efforts, saying they’ve had a significant positive impact on the world.
Jason explained that despite her controversial statements, he didn’t want to criticize her without first speaking to her directly, and he hadn’t yet had the chance to do so.
