The Mighty Nein Voice Cast & Character Guide

Critical Role is currently enjoying a lot of success, so it’s understandable that there’s excitement building for their new series, The Mighty Nein. Coming off their popular video game project, Dispatch, created with AdHoc Studio, this new TV series and its talented cast definitely deserve a closer look.

I’ve been a huge fan of their work ever since their first fantasy show, and it’s amazing – it hasn’t had a single weak season! The Legend of Vox Machina is still doing so well on Prime Video, and it’s definitely become one of their biggest animated successes. Because of how well that show is doing, I’m really excited about the new spinoff they’re planning. It’s set in the same world, but with a totally fresh group of characters, so it feels like there’s a ton of potential for something really special.

Okay, so The Mighty Nein is going to be a bit longer than The Legend of Vox Machina, and we’re meeting a whole new group of heroes. But honestly, what’s really cool is that a lot of the same incredible voice actors from TLOVM are back! Because both shows come from the Critical Role web series, you’ll recognize those voices immediately – they really bring these characters to life, and it’s fantastic to have them returning.

Laura Bailey as Jester Lavorre

Date of Birth: May 28, 1981

As a critic, I’ve been following Laura Bailey for years, and she consistently delivers incredible performances. Hailing from Biloxi, Mississippi, she’s become a true legend in the voice acting world. Most recently, she absolutely charmed audiences as Invisigal in 2025’s Dispatch, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You’ve almost certainly heard her work in huge franchises like Marvel, DC, and the critically acclaimed The Last of Us. She’s a powerhouse, plain and simple.

Laura Bailey is a highly acclaimed actress with a long list of nominations and awards, including a BAFTA and a win at The Game Awards for her performance as Abby in The Last of Us. Whether you’re a gamer or an anime fan, you’ve likely encountered her work, and she continues to build an already remarkable career.

Beyond being a fantastic voice actor, O’Brien is a skilled writer who has contributed to episodes of popular shows like Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden, and The Legend of Vox Machina, demonstrating his wide range of talents.

Caleb is a quiet and unassuming member of The Mighty Nein, which leads people to underestimate him. However, he’s secretly one of the most powerful. While incredibly skilled with magic, he’s often held back by a difficult past and his own self-doubt.

Caleb is a reserved person, but he deeply cares for those he’s close to, particularly his fellow adventurers. He can be hard to get to know at first, but his character development is one of the most interesting parts of the Prime Video series.

Ashley Johnson as Yasha Nydoorin

While he’s best known for voicing Donatello in the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, this actor has consistently demonstrated his versatility. So it’s no surprise his newest character also has a unique and memorable voice and personality.

Nott the Brave, who used to be called Veth Brenatto, first appears as a bit of a trickster and an enigma. This is largely because goblins aren’t generally accepted where The Mighty Nein are based, and she’s doing her best to stay safe and unnoticed in a harsh world.

She finds it hard to trust people and often uses alcohol to manage her anxiety. Luckily, being part of The Mighty Nein has given her a sense of purpose and helped her overcome her harmful habits, allowing her to connect with others for the first time.

Taliesin Jaffe as Mollymauk “Molly” Tealeaf

The Mighty Nein Supporting Cast & Characters

Matthew Mercer plays Essek Thelyss, but it’s uncertain how much of his storyline will be shown in the first season since he appears briefly in the trailers. However, given Matthew Mercer’s significant role in both Critical Role and The Legend of Vox Machina, it’s likely his character will become more important later in the series.

Mark Strong, famous for his roles in films like 1917 and the Kingsman series, will play Trent Ikithon. Many also praise his performance in the 2024 series The Penguin, though it doesn’t always get the attention it deserves.

He’s also a skilled voice actor, which is why he plays the main villain in The Mighty Nein. Trent Ikithon is a powerful and heartless wizard who will be the biggest challenge the characters face in the first season.

Lucy Liu is known for her roles in popular films like Kill Bill and Kung Fu Panda, proving she’s a versatile actress. That’s why her joining the cast of The Mighty Nein is so exciting.

The Empress appears peaceful now, but she used to be a powerful fighter, and that strength still shines through. She’s just one of several new characters who could easily become the most memorable part of the story.
