Following months of speculation, the popular police drama Line Of Duty is confirmed to be returning for a new season. Adrian Dunbar, Vicky McClure, and Martin Compston will all be back as their iconic characters, after the show’s record-breaking finale in 2021.
The new season, consisting of six episodes, begins with AC-12 having been restructured and renamed the Inspectorate of Police Standards. The beloved team of Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming, and Ted Hastings will then tackle what promises to be their most challenging and confidential case yet.
Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, a popular and well-liked officer, is facing accusations of using his authority to sexually exploit others. However, some believe this scandal might be a smokescreen to divert attention from a more dangerous criminal who remains at large.

It’s been a pleasure having so many viewers follow AC-12’s investigations over the past six seasons, and we’re thrilled to be back for a seventh. Apparently, corruption in the country was supposed to have stopped while Line of Duty wasn’t on the air, so I’ve had to get creative to find new cases!

Compston shared that working on Line of Duty has been an incredible experience, both because of the show’s popularity and the strong friendships he’s formed with his colleagues. He’s excited to reprise his role and reunite with the cast and crew.
McClure expressed her excitement about the show’s return, saying she’s looking forward to working with Jed, Martin, and Adrian again and that they’ll be filming in Belfast soon.
Dunbar shared their excitement about the upcoming return of the “Three Amigos” for filming next year, calling it wonderful news and anticipating the unpredictable and exciting developments to come.
